I am regularly accused of being a Ubi shill, have a commendation score of 5760, a SHD level over 200, regularly farm the DZ, and completed a few dozen raid clears. In other words, I've really enjoyed exploring all the content this game has to offer.
But the Polarity Switch challenges have finally turned me off the game:
- The challenges almost have to be completed solo to ensure you can accumulate enough in a reasonable timeframe - i.e. group kills don't contribute to your total for each challenge
- 100 headshot kills of "X" polarity requires the most tedious grind of all. I don't mind the mechanic, but 100 is way too many.
Please reconsider the challenge targets for future events if group kills no longer count.
I understand your frustration. I spent about 3 mins yesterday trying the event and that was enough for me. New content is great and some players are really enjoying this event and I'm all for it but some events are not for everyone. This one I will be giving a miss which is kind of good as I want to spend some time on a couple of builds I've been meaning to put together.
Well, didn't like last weeks speed runs even though I completed it it wasn't enjoyable to me, this is more tactical and having a lot of fun with it.
Good thing is they seem to have varied challenges, something for all I guess.
Never played div2 on console but if you're I can understand frustration with headshot kills, might be half the number for console players to even it out? On PC headshots is no problem.
Come on guys. We need to enjoy the NEW THINGS TO DO. Thanks again ThylanderOriginally Posted by dagrommit Go to original post
Ok, I can I detect a whole lot of irony in your post, and if you think a single person is to blame if you don't like something in the game think again.Originally Posted by qpMaverickqp Go to original post
As said, many are enjoying it.
Polarity switch was the most fun to happen since my contol points were red and cheaters was something only happening in other games. (where they was also banned)
I would rather this event have been something you can do in the normal course of a play session and not something I HAD to run solo. To do it in any reasonable fashion of time, you have to solo it. I think the numbers on some of the objectives should be lowered because even when i was just focused on this and nothing else, it was very tedious. I think it would be better served if it were more a "Oh, i finished that, nice" feel and not "UGH, glad that one is done with."
I like the event idea overall, but it needs to be tweaked so as to not feel like it's a tedious, time filler.
Well last weeks time runs felt like tedious fillers to me. Skip this one and there might be something you like next week? You know we arent forced to complete everything? Not sure why soloing it should be faster? If everyone in a group knows the mechanics behind it it should be faster..Originally Posted by Sinfultee Go to original post
You can even do it on hard mode. Counts the same as on challenging or heroic.
I can agree with this a bit. I completed all the challenges yesterday except for the headshot one, but like others have said, solo was really the way to go.
Of course it didn’t help that when I did matchmaking, 90% of the time I ended up being in a group that didn’t have the event active anyway. If that’s because there are so few people who are interested in trying it, then Massive need to look at that.
So yeah. I enjoy the mechanic over all. It was kind of fun to walk up to an enemy and slug them, but I do agree that the way the events work and the way you progress through the rewards needs some tweaking. There should be a way that I can get into a group playing the event, even if they put it just active on certain missions like they did in TD1.
I thought it was clear that I don't have a problem with the polarity switch mechanic itself, just with the way the challenges work now - i.e. someone else in group getting a headshot doesn't count for you. This is different from how the game previously worked - e.g. field research. And while I do play on PC, I don't enjoy the process of having to line up so many headshots in such specific circumstances.Originally Posted by retro1236 Go to original post
Reread the post. I don't have any issue with the mechanic. Not sure why you're bringing Thylander's name up as he worked on gear and loot, not activities and events.Originally Posted by qpMaverickqp Go to original post
Yeah, it feels as if you have to do *all* of the challenges to max out the rewards, unlike the league where you can skip a couple. Fortunately, you don't have to do all the daily challenges on a given day - though that brings up the question of why they're called "daily" challenges.Originally Posted by DeMizeFPS Go to original post
