Here's a little tip from someone that's been around a while ..... If you want something you have a better chance of getting it if you ask nicely. You attract more flies with honey than you do with vinegar

If you start off with "It pisses me off" or "I'll never buy another Ubisoft game again" then you are less likely to get your way. Why? It's simple, when you cave to that kind of pressure it only means you encourage it in the future every time someone doesn't get their way and Ubisoft is smart enough to know that. That's why good Parents don't cave every time their child pitches a hissy fit in the store because you won't buy them what they want because if you cave even once your child is going to pitch a hissy fit every time you go to the store ......

Calling people kids is not mature, it's quite the opposite actually.

Ubisoft are making a mess (not) communicating on this issue and they are pissing off old fans who actually spent money on the game while rewarding people who never spent a dime and got a free ride and the set as a bonus.

Expecting decent customer service is not the same as throwing a tantrum.

Saying we're pissed off is entirely legitimate even if sometimes the phrasing could be better.

Also "someone that's been around a while"??? Give me a break, you've registered on this forum in 2018. Are we supposed to be impressed because you feel entitled enough to post an average of at least three posts a day? Or are you hinting at the fact that you're old enough to be a pensioner with nothing better to do with your day than post on the forum?

The truth is that they dropped the ball hard on that one. The set was supposed to reward fans and it's locked away and can't be bought by fans who actually spent money on their game (and wouldn't mind spending more to get the damn thing).

Not to mention the timing of the free weekend couldn't have been worse and the fact that even if you had subscribed to the newsletter (which I did) you didn't get an update to let you know about that thing coming up.

Bottom line, making this available once Valhalla comes out will be 100% useless especially for fans who actually buy (and even preorder) Ubisoft games, you know, the people who don't wait for free weekends and spend heaps of money on the in game store because they like extra content getting added to the game and don't mind throwing more money at Ubisoft for making more content.

It's cool that they want to expand their fanbase but giving paying customers the finger in the process is not good PR.

When I read through the posts, I thought someone was just pulling my leg.

I didn't pay much attention to the free weekend because I a) owned the game already and b) at that time we had other problems, like rising numbers of dead people and pretty much not being allowed to do anything. But even if I did play then, I still would not have gotten the armor because I am a so called "loyal buyer". Really?

It's funny that buyers have to be fanboy enough to follow and read through everything a developer released.

The news title was "AC Odyssey Free Weekend - Everything you need to know"

So why should I care about free weekend when I have already purchased and finished the game?

At least they should have made the title "AC Odyssey Free Weekend - Timing and Free Ezio Set" to grab attention of both buyers and non-buyers.

    This kinda shows Ubi's incompetence.

Anyway, what is the advantage of restricting this to only this window? Just to tell us either follow Ubi news 24/7 or be a fanboy and read everything Ubi releases?

This is how Ubi treats loyal buyers.

No Valhalla for me I guess. Already losing patient on Ubi after Breakpoint, then this.

My take on the whole situation isn't that something is locked behind a time limited event, but what they decided to lock.

If you want to draw people in for a free weekend event and get them playing the game for the first time, don't make it (what I'd wager to be) the most desired costume of the entire franchise history. A costume that, in my opinion, should have been in the game since launch.

The people who are truly fans of the series already have the game. The ones who will pay money for a decade old cosmetic already own the game. The ones who will buy your next product without hesitation already have the game. Don't upset those customers by doing something new customers probably don't care about.

Give the costume of one of your other popular entries. The Black Flag outfit is another extremely popular one, but not nearly as universal as Ezio's. Put in the Templar outfit from Rogue. Make it something that will draw new customers in, but not make loyal customers question if they want to continue being customers.

It may seem petty, but I legitimately have reservations about purchasing Valhalla at full price now. I purchased a decent amount of in-game content for Odyssey. Probably spent at least as much as the original game price for cosmetics. The thing I craved most, what I would have paid $30 by itself for, was the ability to play through the game with the iconic Assassin's Creed appearance.

A bit of speculation here;: Odyssey 1. free weekend in March, Origins 1. free weekend in June. Can we expect a 2. free weekend for Odyssey in September before the Valhalla release in November, to get a second chance to unlock Ezios set?
