Maybe that holds if we're talking online multiplayer games.
But in a single player game, I don't think value necessarily comes from exclusivity.
For those of us who were busy working, as we were deemed essential workers during the Covid-19 pandemic, could the developers please consider changing the requirements to obtain the Ezio's Roman Set. Though some may have been able to access the game during that free weekend, some, including myself, were not. Would you please simply attach a Uplay points price tag as an alternate method for obtainment.
It has nothing to do with misunderstanding the promotion. The reason the majority of people are upset; is due to the coronavirus outbreak. Most people did not have access to their game consoles and we're unable to download the settlement during this time frame.Originally Posted by DreadGrrl Go to original post
I have on the game since its first release and I also have hundred up to a thousand hours played on the game, but I was unable to have access to my gaming system during this time frame.
Total bummer.
I haven't touched the game in ages. Thought the Easter Weekend would be a good chance to get some more hours in - I'm a binge gamer and never did finish this one. Was awed by all the new skins in the store and excited to see some listed as free-
-except they're not. It's for a promotion I had no idea was happening. Which has already passed.
I feel like FFXV's missed chocobo and assassin festivals all over again. Sometimes it's genuinely depressing to be a fan.
To Ubisoft,
This is absurd. having spent over $150 on this game in content, and logged nearly 800 hour of game time over 2 years, I am infuriated by the fact that this Free Armor announcement was not sent to me. I am on your email subscriptions, I constantly contributed to discords about the game. But Obviously after finished the last chapter of Atlantis, I stopped playing
To have heard nothing about this at all until just now as I randomly saw a suggested youtube video about it from over a month ago, is enraging. As a loyal game player who put down the game simply because there was an announcement in the winter that no new content was coming (I cant find the post right now, but I know it was made as I remember it was brought up in a JorRaptor video), is just unacceptable.
This is why Rockstar is so-successful at getting people to play their games like GTA 5 for 11 years straight: they always announce what content is coming and whatever promotions are coming every week. Ubisoft made no effort to reach out and inform dedicated fans that new content was suddenly coming, not to mention that it was free.
Everyone knows its impossible to get a full set of armor skins for free just through the orichalcum store. I am utterly shocked that this was done and you gave people one weekend to do it, and it literally didn't show up on my radar, I check Youtube subscriptions everyday, as well as gamespot and other sites.
With all the bugs, errors, and complaints about the obvious pay-to-play Oikos Store, Ubisoft should be ashamed for not making an effort to email everyone with a ubisoft account about this. And based on the amount of people who are equally upset that they never heard about it and it was for a random 48hrs after months of no new content for this game, your company should be ashamed that it has not made restitution to it's massive fan base who spend over $100 just to play the whole game with all the DLCs.
I think I speak for many when I say that once again, we feel cheated by your company; after such a great comeback with Origins, this game that I whole heartedly loved when it was released, it's heart breaking to see how it got more and more frustrating with every new update and DLC that was released (which we paid up front for by the way).
For what it's worth, this is one of the reasons I stopped playing the game even after logging so many hours: in the end, I always felt like i never really got what I paid for; and yet still kept paying for more of it.
I doubt I'll ever turn this game on again let alone even consider buying the next installment, And it's heartbreaking to say that, about a franchise that i truly love, and want to be excited about again. But I dont think there's any coming back after this,
I know this will probably never get read by your management team. But it had to be said. I only hope someone over in Montreal is listening, and maybe catches wind of this. But like your "free outfit promo", it will probably go unnoticed by so many,
I didn't follow or see any announcements so I didn't know it was available or else I would have done it, I'm still playing since game launch date too.
What I don't do is blame Ubisoft for that. They gave something out but I didn't see or know about it, that's not their fault.
The only thing I hope gets fixed is the Server at Sargons when I get a notification that the server has a problem instead of a Legendary item.
I'm not going to Sargons till I hear it's fixed.
=)
My response was to someone who clearly did not understand how the promotion worked. I don’t care why most of the complainers are upset.Originally Posted by kvanho50 Go to original post
I’m pretty sure that “most people” did have access to their consoles, as they were locked up in their own homes in most circumstances. It is most likely a very small minority of players who didn’t have access to their consoles. I’d bet that most people who weren’t able to collect the bonus just weren’t paying attention and didn’t know it was available. Covid-19 is an easy excuse.
Edit: Further to that, I’ll add that I personally find all of this whining about a video game bonus disgusting. Refrigerator trucks are being used as morgues in New York City, and some people are kicking up a fuss because of not being able to get a video game bonus because of the pandemic. Wow. What clueless, selfish, narrow minded, pathetic, and entitled people.
Not only that, notifications for GTA Online and Red Dead Online events pop up in the Notifications box on my PS4 (I assume Xbox has something similar?), so one doesn't have to be scrawling the forums (which I don't do a lot of anymore, I just happened to pop in a couple days before the free weekend and found the announcement) or Twitter every day to find out. Maybe this avenue of announcing events is something Ubi should look into.Originally Posted by mklein.tha.fish Go to original post
I can tell you that's factually incorrect, because I got the full Herakles set just through Gifts. It took a while, I'll grant you, but nonetheless I did. Got four of the five pieces of the Dionysios set that way, too. Only bought the last one from the store since I had a small amount of credits left over and there wasn't anything else I was dying to have.Everyone knows its impossible to get a full set of armor skins for free just through the orichalcum store.
Oh, don't worry, I do plenty of complaining to the idiot in the White House in regards to cornonavirus. In fact, at this point, I'd be shocked if my email address hasn't been hoisted off to their spam folder, since my complaints tend to be not-so-kind and old orange face blows his lid at any form of criticism. So, I have more than enough left over to direct at Ubisoft, or anyone else I think warrants it.Originally Posted by DreadGrrl Go to original post
