Griefball,
The immersive mode would be better with my suggestions: I fail to see how more options could make the immersive mode worse in way... It's up to everyone if they'd use them or not. I read your post entirely, and you never said anything about me being wrong about the implementations either, since you never suggested anything better instead that I hadn't mentioned already, because I mentioned that the level of loss could be determined by the player.
So read the original post more correctly once more if you didn't understand that the implementation of permadeath for the ghost can be handled in many ways, and not actually losing the whole character is one of them. Dying Light's way is one, and would fit Breakpoint just fine. But the current situation with infinite lives feels like playing with cheat codes on, and anyone who has played the original R6 series for instance probably agrees with me that this takes away a lot of tension from the atmosphere of Breakpoint. Implementing permadeath with a wide range of options would be great, and should be also relatively easy to implement, since it would be an addition, not so much a modification to the current code.
Not a bad idea. Or it could be a mix of all the suggestions. You could be either captured (end up without some or all gear), incapacitated (in a hospital with some stats lost), or dead (you lose the ghost entirely). Or some other mix.
The current infinite re-spawns feel lame, so any option to make death punishable would be a plus.
