Just lost 7 hours, I have a little rant.

    Hi folks,

Just got my life ended for the first time at level 10 with one of my toons.

I was one shot but a heavy true sons grenade. I was in a group of three at the time, pretty well geared. ( A few purples and blues, hybrid skill and defense build, but now my character is deleted.

Massive, you cannot put a hardcore mode in place and have mechanics as punishing as a one shot kill at level 10, for no reasons. You have to let your player base progress a bit in this mode.

I understand it has to be tough, but you should always have a way to survive a mechanic.

The grenades are small, they come fast and in a series. Plus your game froze a fraction. Of a second just as I was rolling out of the way..

Anyhow, just a constructive comments, I have played many hardcore games in my life, lost tons of characters to my mistakes and I own up to them, but do not put one shot mechanic in hardcore.

And, I swear the god I have been hit by those guys before and they did not dent even all my armor, have some consistency in your damage calculations.

    Thanks !

Yeah, that's why many players question why the hardcore mode even exists. The game just doesn't seem to really be designed for it. It worked in TU7, where players could become very powerful with high damage output, great armor, and the highest skill power all at the same time. But with the current balancing, I wouldn't play a one-life-only character myself, Or if I did, I would be so risk-averse that I don't know if I'd still enjoy the game.

For what it's worth, you're not supposed to get one-shot without a warning in this game, but you can get one-hit-killed by things that do give a warning (rushers shout or have loud footsteps, grenades have a "plop" sound when they get fired, etc.) It is also intended that heavy hitters can bring you to the brink of death with a single shot. You then have one tiny bit of health left, and need to react quickly. Personally, I find that it's often still impossible to survive in such a situation, but I'm not a great player, so perhaps I'm just not good enough to survive them reliably.

Enemy damage is generally about to get reduced with tomorrow's extra maintenance, so hopefully that will help you.

You know you can create multiple characters right?
He might as well have leveled many other agents up to level 30/40 and wanted to try the Hardcore mode. But with the unfair balance it's really not a point in doing so. Some enemies are really bad, and I have brought up this issue multiple times (such as the true sons heavy grenade tanks doing much more damage than a sniper would)
In conclusion: Enemy explosives damage is far too high, even at story difficulty

Yeah... this. These forums are full of people that jump to "git gud"

Maybe it is the game that needs to git gud?

I never invested any time in hardcore mode because I don't see it as being worth the time. Especially following the update which the devs have acknowledged the balance is not as intended. But even if the balance was not off, I still wouldn't do it because of glitches. I can;t be the only one that runs across things in combat that you should be able to walk over, or jump off of, and die because of that. Then after the mission is over you go to that same spot and now it works fine.

I think it's already been said by another poster here, but I have over 300 hours on this game and a level 40 character, I know the game, the damage is crazy high for an elite that is not even a named guy and that shows up in the middle of the street...
