Thank you for TU 8 skills! Skills need slight help

Well done team. Skills in Division 2 are in a great place. Most teams benefit from having 1 person running a healing/DPS build, and another person who can apply status effects and pulse. Though neither one of them should be skill tier 4 or higher or else the group is missing out on DPS too much.

Quality of life fixes to skills is all we need to make skills more presentable.

Let us toggle skill variants without using the main menu
Lets take the turret for example. Pressing Q summons the turret. Pressing shift-Q opens a small menu that gives the agent a choice to swap between Assault Turret, Sniper Turret, Incinerator Turret, or Artillery Turret. Of course, the cooldown needs to be reset before we swap. If we want to swap from the turret to the hive, that would need the menu.
Chem Launcher is thirsty for this change. The healing chem launcher gets used like 10 times more than any other launcher. If we could change to the one we needed in combat without holding up the group and risking get sniped mid process, then we could finally enjoy the other choices. The fear of getting caught without the chem launcher is too risky right now.
If nothing else, swapping skill variants with hot keys will make groups happier and improve immersion. When I use my skill builds, I'm always having to go into the menus and swap skills for different situations. Weapons could benefit from the same change, being swappable without using the UI. It's just more pertinent for skills.

Combine skill damage and skill healing
Here is a joke. Agents who have high skill healing and high skill damage at the same time are as dangerous as mediocre DPSers. There are two reasons why that can't be. We can only equip 2 skills, and skills have long cooldowns. That is totally okay, because that is how skills fit in the game. No matter how great a skill is, it can only be used a couple times per fight. Enemies come in waves, often meaning that the best skill user in the world has to rely on their guns a disproportionately high amount. DPS builds use their builds multiple times per second - a rate equivalent to their gun's RPM.

When you specialize in healing, you lose the ability to solo effectively, unless you strongly diverge into a DPS hybrid. When you specialize in skill damage, you are often vulnerable when waiting for cooldowns to recover. The solution is to carry one healing spell, and one damage spell. Oh no, but I'm only specialized in one or the other! I think if the ability to repair and heal were linked, you could do some incredibly interesting things that make more hybrid builds prevalent, and interesting. Talents that get almost no usage can open doors. The gun of a skill build user becomes something that links together incredible combos and set ups. Fill in the missing stat with a fraction amount of Skill tier (for example, 0.2 skill tier) Another idea for a stat is Skill Handling. A comprehensive stat that increases healing/stim boost recieved from skills, damage done to enemy skills, skill radius, and skill health. There are other ways to do it that maintains diversity in skill build gear choices, but more importantly, makes skill builds accessible for those who don't want to go for skill tier 4, 5, and 6.

    Edit:
Killing veterans and elites should reduce skill cool downs a small amount - without a talent.

PvP is not a reason to avoid these changes. That concept has done the most harm to Division 2. There are other ways to balance things for the broken, garbage, broken PvP.

Divsion 2 pvp is dead. It should have never been a focus on balancing problems.
Problem is they put DZ only items. Forcing pvp content to get the best PVE content is one of the poorest designs ever made in a game.

I think they know PvP is dead and are quietly letting it sit on its deathbed while focusing on PvE. They would have at least had some PvP mode to tout about as another bullet on the Warlords promotional splash if they were serious about it. I say good on them for it. But that isn't the subject of this thread lol

damage and repair skills are ****, replace that with skill power and the problem is fixed, we shouldn't have to choose between skill damage, repair skill and skill haste but only skill haste and skill power. If I want to play support role there is no way to raise booster hive, decoy, pulse, on the other hand if we replace damage and repair skill by skill power it would affect ALL skills, which would be much simpler
