Hi,
I just ran into this issue and it prevents me from completing the game. Up until the cutscene after defeating Ethan, everything worked fine. The first problem was the missing sounds from the cutscene (only the first word or the first few sounds could be heard). Then, the game completely froze out with a black screen (I waited a few minutes before ending it with Task Manager) and a constant 112 FPS. I already restarted the game and my computer and checked the game's files with Uplay. None of these worked.
I found the 112 FPS strange because the low average FPS is 27, the highest (during gameplay) is around 40 FPS, and around 60 in cutscenes/loading.
Preset: Ultra, without HD-textures (that feature requires double the amount of video memory than what I have).
OS: Windows 10 Pro 1909 x64 build 18363
CPU: Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU, 2.80GHz (4 cores, 8 threads)
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 560
RAM: 8 GB
Soundcard: Realtek High Definition Audio (integrated)
It turned out that there was a hardware issue. The game froze out because it was unable to read data from the external SSD. I checked the game files and everything was OK. The SSD disconnected for a second. After rebooting, I ran into the same issue but this time, when I tried to check the game files, UPlay was unable to locate them. I tried to manually browse the game directory but the drive was inaccessible. When I tried to open it from Windows Explorer, it threw an I/O error (which, in normal circumstances, is the indicator of a pretty serious issue, namely a dead drive). After disconnecting and connecting the drive into another USB port, it worked again. However, the game still froze out. Checking the disk with CHKDSK /SCAN /F /B revealed that there were some corrupted clusters but it couldn't reallocate them due to lack of free disk space. So I uninstalled both Far Cry 5 and New Dawn (the two biggest games on the drive), run the check again, this time CHKDSK successfully reallocated the bad clusters. After installing the game, it ran perfectly and I could finish it.
