Anyway I find it shameful that they're charging money for this campaign, they should offer it to all their players after the disaster the game was at its release. And it annoys me even more that they're using Sam Fisher and the CT soundtrack as baits for this. Looks like Ubisoft didn't learn a damn thing, as usual...
Should have expected that, I was considering playing the mission during the free weekend (like I did for wildlands) but they are actually trying to con SC Fans for some easy money after the failure of Breakpoint, haha not going to happen. So now we wait for a video walkthough of the DLC campaign to check and see what the hell they've done with Sam this time.
Here's a gameplay trailer. I warn you guys, this is painful and demoralizing to watch. You can see Sam fighting futuristic drones and being involved in a story even more ridiculous than the original one in Brekpoint and the one in Blacklist combined. Yep you read me right, because Sam and the Ghosts will be fighting an enemy controlling drones with... his mind.
And here is the first mission gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omdy-o0VPOA
semajmarc87 => From what i saw they're using the CT soundtrack, at least in combats. You can hear it in the video at 19:42 but it sounds so inappropriate to have this theme in that game and in that moment, that doesn't fit at all imo.
That does indeed look terrible. Soundtrack is out of place, gameplay looks boring and formulaic as hell, stupid drones, nothing to do with SC at all, just a nostalgia skin cash grab from gullible people.
And don't get me started on Sam's personality, ubi can't write for **** anymore
"I got my dancing shoes and I'm ready to party" -Sam Fisher GRB 2020, yup thats something Sam would say
*puke*
Yep, Sam's lines seem terrible as well.
I'm now sure that nobody at Ubisoft except Clint Hocking knows what Splinter Cell is about anymore.
And I won't talk about Tom Clancy, who the hell thought a story like that would be a good idea ?! Ubisoft definitely lost themselves....
I really don't understand what's so hard about doing some research and crafting an interesting narrative based on real world events. Ubisoft used to do that, even as recently as Wildlands (which was still pretty much a fantasy premise of Bolivia becoming a Narco state, but at least some good research on cartel operations was done). Instead, we get "The Strategist", who can only be described as a knock-off Magneto, who instead of controlling magnetic metals controls drones. Jesus Christ. Was the Deep State concept drafted on "take your child to work day"?
Based on the gameplay video of it that I just saw, it looks like it's at least 9 hours too many, and it hardly looks "stealth focused"; they had Sam getting in firefights with drones, for Christ's sake.Apparently Deep State is 7 to 8 hours long, and is stealth focused.
Don't get roped into it, that's exactly what Ubi is hoping for. I've never understood how people start salivating over gear/weapon skins. It's useless virtual junk that's meant to swindle you out of your money. The echelon class is very enticing, the gear, the pistol, the goggles
That isn't new. Breakpoint already had stealth takedowns.the new shadow movement and silent kill moves while being stealthy
That's what annoys me the most. They obviously get that Chaos Theory is the epitome of the series, which is why they used the CT soundtrack for the trailer. But instead of giving us narrative and gameplay in the vein of Chaos Theory, they give us more watered down Conviction/Blacklist garbage mixed with the drone fighting of Breakpoint.the auto headshot when spotted(Conviction is still very fresh in their minds with this perk)
And, Christ, did you see the Shock Pistol in the gameplay video? It's no longer a sticky-shocker, but essentially an electric bomb, like something from Horizon Zero Dawn, except this is supposed to be a Clancy game. F***ing awful.Their Special Tool is the Shock Pistol
Great, more watered down mechanics carried over from Conviction and Blacklist.he Echelon Class has Sonar Vision as its Special Ability: a new type of filtered vision able to "disturb" drones and mark enemies, even if they're hidden behind walls.
Again, why is Ubisoft obsessed with these super gamey MMO type "classes"? It's not even like they're using actual military classes like rifleman, sniper, medic, etc. It's gamey archetypes with super powers. I don't get it.“Echelon Class for a stealth approach and the Engineer Class for tech-related combat.
I'm officially dubbing this DLC "Derp State".
For those who want to suffer a bit more and see how badly written the main villain is and how Tom Clancy legacy is getting a bit more violated (at 18:20 in the video):

I'm speechless, this is just blasphemy at this point to use Sam and Chaos Theory's soundtrack in such inappropriate ways.
Back then in the late 90s when Ubisoft started to develop his first AAA game which was the first Splinter Cell game, the people working at the studio weren't even programmers. They were amateurs, they learn their craft on the job but they still succeeded to deliver a solid, innovative, consistent and successful game which looked like it was done by professionals.
Nowadays only programmers and professionals who studied their crafts for years are working at Ubisoft but all they can do is deliver a game which looks like it was done by amateurs, I don't get it... (well I mean I know the main reasons why but it's still surprising to witness that)
