While playing my last match I gained the princes feats even without the dagger. The only thing i noticed on getting it was being killed right as I grabbed the dagger. In more technical terms as my character finished the animation of picking up the dagger a frame or two after that I died, but the game still said I had the feats of the prince they where all locked though because I had only unlocked my 1st feat.

I found the exact frame of if you die you will retain the princes feats because you still have your own characters health and not the health that you get set with when you obtain to dagger
