Asking for a friend of mine, he bought the Gold Edition of the game at launch (the one that came with the Lullaby shotgun preorder bonus).
We both own the Warlords expansion. During one of our gameplay sessions, I came across a level 40 Sweet Dreams, which I decided to gift to him, since he's more of a shotgun guy and I don't really use them.
His crafting bench shows the upgrade blueprint for the Lullaby, with a level of 515. I think I already know the answer, but can he use the blueprint to upgrade his existing level 1 Lullaby to level 40, using a level 40 Sweet Dreams?
I have a feeling what will happen is that the level 40 Sweet Dreams will be consumed by the upgrade, and the level 1 Lullaby will be upgraded to level 30 / GS515.
Can anyone verify whether or not this is in fact what will happen, or if it is somehow possible to upgrade the Lullaby to level 40 (since a level 40 Lullaby can't be farmed due to it only existing as a preorder bonus)?
I know that it is impossible to upgrade any level 30 exotic to level 40. But that's not (technically) what I'm trying to do here. The Lullaby is a level 1 and judging by the (not at all clear) wording on the items in question, it seems that I'd be applying the *look* of the Lullaby to the level 40 Sweet Dreams, and all of the skills, attribute rolls, etc of the Sweet Dreams would be maintained?
Or am I misunderstanding things? Can anyone who's actually done this process (even if only to get a Level 30 Lullaby) take a moment to comment and offer their thoughts? I'd really appreciate it.
#1: Before the update, they stated upgrading exotics 30 to 40 will not be available AT LAUNCH, which indicates they intend to add it later on. So scrapping all your exotics & wasting time grinding for those you don't use much will come back to bite you sooner or later.
#2: No, atm converting to a Lullaby or Ruthless to lvl 40 is not possible/from the Sweet Dreams/Merciless at level 40s.
This further indicates that we will be getting up-gradable exotics soon, that will also address this specific issue of type conversion.
Ok, thanks for the info. So upgrading to level 40 is out, at least for now. One question I do still have though, is this: The description makes it seem like the upgrade is actually just a visual thing, and you're transferring the look of the Lullaby onto the Sweet Dreams, then calling the resulting weapon a Lullaby. This leads me to believe that whatever attribute rolls are currently on the Sweet Dreams (Dmg %, Crit Chance, etc.) will be maintained after the "conversion".Originally Posted by VampiricVulpix Go to original post
Am I correct in my thinking here?
Yeah, Nah. Sadly at the moment, the cosmetic blueprint will downgrade the weapon to level 30. Don't do it.
They said "not at launch" which doesn't indicate that they plan to, just that it's a possibility if enough of us demand it. Kinda crappy but hey ho.
I hope once everything smoothed out and the teething problems have been solved they look into it. I deleted all my exotics because... well I wanted the upgrade material, judging by how my gear luck is I have a feeling I'll need to reroll those suckers a good few times to get semi-decent rolls. That Coyote's mask dropped with sub 10% weapon damage, 3.7% chc and 6% chd. Eugh.
As of right now, there is no way for a lvl 40 sweet dreams/merciless to be converted into the Lullaby/Ruthless. I know, it sucks not being able to use paid for cosmetics.

What I'd like to know, is this: for those of you who have upgraded in the past (when level 30 was the max), does the Lullaby (once upgraded) have the exact same attribute rolls as the Sweet Dreams used to perform the upgrade?
In other words, assuming Massive at some point implement a means of upgrading these preorder exotics to level 40, and assuming it will work the same way as it did in the past, if I have a Sweet Dreams with Shotgun Damage 6%, Damage to Armor 5%, and Dmg to Target out of Cover 5%, will the upgrade process result in a Lullaby with those exact same attributes and values? Or does the upgrade process cause everything to be rerolled, as if you were crafting it from scratch?
I know the process would be subject to change under the new gear system, and no one knows for sure how it could work, but I'm just curious how it worked in the past when people upgraded to lvl30.
As far as Lvl 30 weapons are concerned, you don't have to worry about any values, since all stats on Lvl 30 exos, will have automatic god-rolls on it. (which is sadly no longer the case when it comes to Lvl 40 exos - El Stupidendo, if you ask me btw.)Originally Posted by Trippul G Go to original post
And the Talent from Sweet Dreams and Lullaby are the same. (same goes for the Merciless, if you re-skin it into a Ruthless)
