I tried a heavy blue build and died almost instantly if I poked my nose out from cover or magically my cover became a inferno of flames, so now I put everything red I can find into my build and same result, but at least I can make a difference in TTK. I just try to move within cover or cover to cover after each time I pop up for a shot and where possible, move within cover. Would like to see a toning down in instant inferno within cover though.
Enemy damage in newer content is simply massively overtuned. I'm sitting on 1.7 million armour and 400K health right now. I've had plenty of instances where I'll lose all of my armour, all of my health, proc Unbreakable and lose all of my armour again in just about the time it takes me to realise what's going in. The only thing that saves me in this situations is the 2-second or so damage grace period when losing all health, which is sometimes enough to run to new cover if I was already moving by the time I lost my armour.
Turning everyone into a glass cannon unless you bring an overtuned ballistic shield is honestly a mistake. I don't expect to be able to face-tank or stand in the open - fair enough. But it seems like so much as popping my head over cover is enough to get most of my armour blown off. Not to mention the constant grenade spam. And worst of all, since the game is balanced around "red builds," it means anyone with not-a-red build is going to be mag-dumping into enemies 'till the cows come home. Hopefully, the numbers are still open to change, because that's simply not as fun any more.
Mind you, I'm still playing, just playing mostly Hard and occasionally Challenging, where before I could do Challenging fairly reliably.

1 red
10 blue
10 yellow
I can face tank grenades its whats in my blue and yellows that keeps me alive on challenging diff(solo)
I also have 0% CHC and 25% CHD and I don't have problems killing (only the big heavy Elite Tanks)
so... i was doing federal reserve (outcast ver) with randoms on challenging and last section we all kept dying because the amount of suicide rushers was just too fast, they would jump out of nowhere and before you saw him boom, so after 10 tries everyone quit, except me, i thought i did heroic missions so chal should be doable as well, i mean what the hell, it's supposed to be easier
guess what, i equipped my armor build with 2 mil armor and 14 mil shield and did it myself, except this time there was just two guys at most at the same time one suicider and one machine gunner, i did loose whole shield on suicy, that's whooping 14 mil but slapped the other guy with my shield and wished him sweet dreams with my shotty
anywho water is wet and group enemy scaling is still broken, they might be less spongy but those suicide rushers destroy anything in one boom
enjoy the broken or stick to solo or duo on some missions like this
Well I would agree if it really would be closer to an RPG, but it isn't. A game simply doesn't turn into an RPG game just because you throw in a skill tree, classes and put stats on items. There is almost no Roleplay at all in the game. No decisions to make, we are merely a puppet that is sent around the map to do what others want and so on. Yes, I agree the before mentions things are parts taken from an RPG, but again it doesn't make this game one.Originally Posted by tcarlisle2012 Go to original post
It is a looter shooter, a dungeon crawler/hack'n'slay until the boss and the only purpose is to shoot and loot. Steering away from groups because you are unable to finish them off is a faulty design in my opinion. Of course the gear should fit the level and by improving it you should be able to shoot and loot more quickly. I also agree that after maybe just switching the difficultly, engaging named mobs should be difficult, but not impossible. But that doesn't seem to change, no in fact you get better gear, improve your stats and then you get one-shot by a robodog, just because you aren't tanky enough yourself. So far, from what I have seen, the only thing you can do is sacrifice DPS (from whatever source) and stack up armor to prevent that. So take more time but add survivability.
Why? There isn't a real mechanic in the game that would require that. The game doesn't need dedicated tanks, healers and dps specs at the moment. The encounters aren't really tailored towards that. I have been watching a little bit of one of a legendary mission video of one of the youtubers mentioned around here. Running in the 'arena area' deal a little bit of damage and back out to heal up and wait. That is not a good encounter design. That is just bullet sponginess. Also if I remember correctly there was always the mentioning of everything being able to be soloed. Yes, raids and maybe legendary now are an exception. Maybe even heroic missions. But honestly, this one-shot-kill stuff just because you didn't stack enough armor and telling people that cover is now more important... Sorry, but that isn't a thing at the moment. You are being constantly flushed out of it by overpowered grenades, trashmobs charging at you that can endure hundreds of bullets and seem to be pretty aware of that, flamethrowers that penetrate through the cover as if were not even there and much more.
I agree that, if everything would be working better, that cover would be a viable replacement for having a more resilient armor. But against a single red bar gangsta-style outcast guy... Yes, I damn should be able to facetank him without loosing all my armor in maybe two seconds. Again, in my opinion things like trash mobs shouldn't feel that much spongy at all and yes I do think that the game is more less tailored towards just specific metas and people that use them might be having less trouble. But it shouldn't work that way. Build diversity to me doesn't mean just one specific AR, LMG, skills build etc. No, to me it means that I can make a good build with an MK17, an M1A, an P416, and whatever gun/skill is in the game. Or compared to classes from the medieval themed games, I want to be able to create a caster, or a melee and still be able to play. But that sadly doesn't really seem to be the case now. And one thing more regarding people that say group play is more important now. If the game would now be tailored just towards groups, they should have mentioned it prominently so people that enjoy playing alone could have avoided the expansion-lite. Exceptions are the raid and maybe legendary. Those are my two cents.
