Just curious as youtube and everywhere seems full of these 4 billion dps AR/LMG/SMG gold build nonsense. I tend to just make the most of what drops and build a base then just grind out better drops in each slot. I have like a core focus or general stat I'd like to build towards and work from there.
I just tend to make up my own dumb stuff, don't try to be meta but i do try to make something that can clear hard content, sometimes it does end up aligning with the meta out of sheer coincidence. I mean i don't think that an OD 2 shotguns with exotic holster, sweet dreams, boomstick, and suvivalist custom deagle are the meta even though you can hit for more than 2.5mil easy with each shot.

I think with the changes, and given enough time with the current version, the popularity of all red build are decreasing, even among big youtubers. Because if a popular YouTuber doesn't tell them, its not viable
That's if they don't nerf the game to kingdom come.
Like when smoking a brisket. you need to let the changes(minus the bugs) rest for a while.

Kinda crazy but you can take aspects
I consciously stay away from build guides and "the meta". There's nothing wrong with it, it's just that a huge part of my own enjoyment comes from figuring things out myself. It's the difference between drawing one's own ideas and painting by numbers - the latter might look better in the end, but the former is more fun, more fulfilling, and much more satisfying if it actually works.
In general, this means that my builds will be weaker than those that an active community can come up with, but I mostly play solo PvE, so I don't really care if others have stronger builds. Occasionally I find that builds which the meta seems to have written off as "weak", turn out to be considerably stronger than expected.
