But with about 25 hours in this expansion, a case can be made that it does have a level of build diversity that have manifested with the latest update. This is the first time I’m planning on building a healer once I get my DPS build straight for flexibility. In the past I could out DPS all PVE content in the game and carry a team on heroic. More DPS was the answer, always. Now with the added health and armor of the NPCs at the higher levels( heroic and up), a healer or a tank might do more for the team than just another gun..this is a great first step in returning thought to the series, rather than a 4 man coop NPC firing squad simulator with success never in doubt.
As far as the single player aspect, after playing the story solo I grind coop most of the time. But Ive been in 4 man challenge coops with seeker builds that maimed NPCs so bad, they were walking dead. Easily cleaned up. I could only imagine what they do when the game is scaled for solo.
I don't think anyone is saying there is NO diversity, just that's it is much much much much much less.Originally Posted by Spidey456 Go to original post
And no, not everyone used a dps "always". I thought you could faceroll everything doing everything you wanted with a broken keyboard while tonguing your mouse? Not trying to put words in your mouth.
The reason you are seeing an illusion of diversity, is because you have been forced to. You don't have a choice. And man, if you make that healer then you will be GOLDEN man. Because NO ONE will want to play that boring stale class. You'll be in high demand for sure. As a matter of fact I'd get on it right away and find a static. You'll getting dms all the time, "You on?" "Hey, man can you heal for us?"
I am starting to think they may be planing to bring back some of the other gear sets from Div 1 not just Striker, at least i hope so.
We got the ability to make a shield tank again. I am not fond of the healing skills we have but i guess a healing build could be put together.
They still need to tone down the super aggressive rushing and enemy damage output slightly but all in all it has promise.
I have 5 builds RN and might end up with 7- 8 by the time im done. Might have to finish lvling my 2nd character to split them up.
There's a huge amount of potential build diversity. You only have to look at the many combinations of stats and talents that you are able to transfer to the library and then back onto any item of gear you collect. Unfortunately we're seeing what we saw in the first few months of the game where practically everyone was declaring that every build other than a gun build is pointless and of no use, a burden, a self-gimp.. blah blah blah. I didn't listen to those idiots then and I won't be listening to them now.

Pure talent wise, there's less of them, and you only have to slots, so yeah, less potential outcomes.
But having less talents does not necessarily equal less diversity. Before 2.0 there were almost no consequences for speccing into anything, you could specialize into everything all at once.
Everyone in Tu7 and before was a hybrid, so that didn't bring any diversity at all. You needed 2 yellow attributes and could be maxed out on skillpower, and going full DPS or tank at the same time.
Now you have to make sacrifices, and that alone increases diversity by a significant margin, if you ask me.
In detail? Well, here's a summary:Originally Posted by RichardOshea Go to original post

It works like that. Look, all smartass aside, there are less possible builds. Even an "idiot" can understand that.
