Solo is not any better than before WoNY

I play solo a lot, I like the freedom of single player as well as controller interactions. What I don’t enjoy is the hordes of enemies I fight as if I have a group to counter the heavies and rushing enemies. What is actually frustrating is the fact that the best strategy for single player is to just run away constantly until you kite the enemy enough to whittle their numbers down.

This is exhausting, especially for every interaction. I could have swore I read information stating solo players would have a more enjoyable experience after this update and I haven’t seen that yet. Currently I play with 1.1 million armor and have a good blend of weapon based damage and armor. I am approaching level 68 in watch level and haven’t been able to find a comparable strat to “kiting every group of enemies I find” to adapt my play style to.

What kind of experience has any other solo based players been finding?

currently messing around with 6 different builds just trying them out, sniper build is good for taking down cp4 at a distance and to avoid aggro you can aggro dump with the decoy since it generates a lot of threat, so that after the decoy is gone they might focus on npcs again and not you and you can go back to picking off targets, heavies all but the melee have weakpoints you can use the firefly version to activate those weak points.
shade level is 125 or higher now can not remember exactly how high i am with that, and i have fun a lot of different content solo now and farming hard missions for faster runs when going for targeted loot, and challenging when i want a bit of a challenge i am not interested in the heroic solo missions yet not min maxed my builds yet.
I make sure to have my loadouts with different specializations and i can switch it up on the fly when out in the world that also helps depending on what i see.

Spotter has been changed so it has a much longer range and that can help out a lot so you can prepare for a fight depending on world difficulty you are playing on that is.

    Yeah its tough

just finished the Bank Mission on Challege solo, and the last room is totally insane.. defo not Solo Friendly, and took me about 15 attempts before completion.. just too many snipers and spam tanks/grenades and drones for one person. - the room is also to blame as there is not much cover as soon as you walk in..

And... My build is possibly very different than anyone's. as Im trying a version out currently... wait for it...

unstoppable force paired with perfect Glass Cannon!. - DMG is V nice, almost 1 mil Crit hit per shot, 70% CC/ 85%CD and 120% Head-shot - a few god rolls, so Im juiced a bit on the Dmg department.

    however.....

literally Im one shot!.. any grenade im dead, any runner murders me in the face, and one shot sniper too. I go down to underground faster than you can say cheese!

(Just for those that dont know) Perfect glass cannon is 30% DMG increase, but 60% dmg increase to myself) - 60%!! in today's state of the game.. am I mad

I do enjoy the dmg side of things. as i melt everything, but I need to play smart, and thats sometimes not possible when your stuck in a location and cant move. - so Ive given myself a serious challenge on already a serious challenge of a game!...

Doing silly things like this is what keeps me to the game atm!.

Solo for me now is far better than before, before this update I had completed 1 heroic mission, now I have completed all of Neptune manhunt on heroic.

It was very tough in parts, Roosevelt end took a while, and a few bounties were a pain with the bosses healing but generally I managed my way through missions, took my time to make sure I got to the end respawn and then you can play a bit more freely.

Had a go at a few black tusk heroic's and finding them a bit tougher, lots of sniper's, warhounds etc. plus they will flank you far more than other fractions so will need to work on the build more to complete these.

I don't think that it was a goal to make solo any "better". Saying that implies that solo play was flawed before. I was a soloist for most of last year. All pieces of content were done solo. Missions on challenging, bounties up to heroic, control points level 4, etc. Everything except raid and heroic missions -- and that is only because both were designed to be exclusive to groups.

Yes, I am aware that some people found ways to cheese through heroic solo. When I say challenging misisons solo, that means all the way through without going down once -- not even a revive hive. That was alweays my goal when solo, and I achieved it. And as the game matured throughout the updates -- and they put in the "perfect" talent gear -- it got to the point I was not even consuming 1 armor kit, and using assault turret rarely.

And when I say this was achieved, I don't mean I try 10 times and then one time I did it. I mean that 90% of the time I played, I succeeded.

Like you, I too like to controller and the feedback it provides. But when fighting, I hold controller in left hand and right hand on the mouse. While that sounds like it might introduce a reaction time delay, it really doesn't. There are a number of games I play this way -- and it is because the controller aim is just too much of a disadvantage.

So to say that we expect solo to be "better" now, if that were the case then I'd be as bored with the game as I was before the update.

To be fair, I am in agreement that the current balance is horrible and that it impacts solo very much. But I hope the "fix" to that isn't to make it even the same as it was a few weeks ago.

The current rev is altogether different than 1.7, finding doing cp's at lvl 3/4 it's not the complexity but the number of iterations that take place spawning NPC's during the encounter, take one on and then a elite convoy arrives, an elite patrol right behind them, and then a drone before you have finished off the last lot, finding ammo lvl is an issue and having to use mixture of ar/rifle/Lmg/smg and still running short. Even gunner ammo replenish does not keep up.

I'm loving solo play in this update. I have about 5 distinctively different builds I'm trying to perfect and I'm yet to even really try out a gearset!

All have their ups and downs and different ways to play and all can handle challenging pretty easily. Not tried them all on heroic yet (not risking my season manhunt progress) but I've not nearly completed any one of them.

All activities (bar the raid and the dz) being balanced for solo play has given me more options in how I build.

I'm already thinking of another 2 builds to work on, which will keep me grinding for a while and if they get around to doing a PvP focused update that addresses my issues I'll guess I'll have to make some builds for that too!
