I would like to know why development (or marketing) decided to split the player base by having two maximum levels, plus corresponding weapon and gear libraries. I find it very strange that they did this and here is why. I am not an owner of DLC and don't think I ever will because I did lose all interest in TD2, now going back to TD1 again.
Today I have played two invaded mission with matchmaking switched on and not a soul entered my session. Could be that matchmaking is bugged which is causing this but either way it's wrong. I am starting to get the impression that level 40 players aren't linked to lower level players and same for other way around. Besides this I think that a lot of the 'free to play' players have already left the game, or they bought the expansion. I say this because last week I had zero issues entering a group to play missions, on any difficulty. Now you can't find any players at all, same goes for backup calls (1 to 3 per hour) and safe houses, the number of players I see there have declined too.
But if I remember correctly they told us players that everyone would be able to play with everyone which I think is more or less impossible. A level 30 player cannot join an activity at level 40 because they don't have access to the additional content or game play. And likewise I see a problem for level 40 joining a lower level because their worlds are and behave completely different. I have yet to see a level 40 player in my game, never seen one join a mission, not today nor last week, just never. I think it actually isn't possible and anyone that can shed some light on this is welcome to reply. At the moment the game just feels dead, as in very few players actually playing.
As far as I can see right now there is no reason to continue playing when it feels they have abandoned the level 30 players in order to tempt them to join the level 40 club. Of course I might be wrong but that doesn't happen that often when I have this gut feeling about it. However for the moment I'm going back to TD1 where I can play all missions with everyone regardless if they are owning any expansions or not, apart from few incursions.
Might be back later but if I need disk space this game is without a doubt the first one that gets removed to create room for another one.
I never ever ever had a problem.finding a third or fourth player. Ever.Originally Posted by Adze. Go to original post
The only problem I ever had was last year when there was a bug matching players in different world tiers. Lasted like a week iirc.
But to answer, yes, yes they did. True to its namesake.
In TU7, when supposedly the game was dead, it took me 2 or 3 seconds to find a full group for any activity at any level.
In TU8 I start MM, after 20 seconds 1 match is found, another 20 seconds for a third one. So we start the mission and by the end of the first zone a fourth player is found.
Given we're at the height of the newly released content, I wonder what will happen a few weeks down the line. You'll probably need to look for a group on the forums or discord...
Same. That's where it's going. It was already heading that way, just because a lot of us absorbed the content, not because there was anything wrong per se.Originally Posted by desrocchi Go to original post
But now, hell even widdz isn't playing the DZ and sleepyo is back on Destiny 2. I know they're smaller and that's not a very good barometer, but when looking at the whole picture, this expansion kind of flopped.
Didn't "save" anything. All the changes and 4 hours worth of content was more like a nail in the coffin, not some saving grace.
i went to darkzone with 2 lvl 40 and me as lvl 30 yesterday. it crashed their game and gave me an error about not being same tier or something.
afterwards we tried again with another lvl 30 and we were able to get into a lvl 40 dz. when the last guy lvl 40 , left, it kicked me back to my own dz.
game is ****. match making is either broken or player count is way down.
i suffer the same problems getting mm to work on any level activity as a lvl 30 no wony. most i have got is a single guy to join a mm session so far.
not to mention if you do squad with a lvl 40, the drops they get and you get are not worth sharing as they dont need low ****, and i cant use 40 ****.
Damn it , that must be really frustrating :<Originally Posted by NoDeityButGod Go to original post
Matchmaking is completely broken at the moment as well.
That is usually the case for any game that uses a Online Server system they have to constantly maintain by the money their game earns anyways. It is cheap marketing but common practice at this point since Gaming Companies tend to distribute funding to certain games they make based on what the Development Team earned from that game. There is a certain stricted rule that they can't have another game leech off the earnings of another game development team for different REASONS though in a ideal world all development teams would get equal share of the money earned by the entire company to support their game development and/or servers if they have a online game server to maintain.Originally Posted by KROM82 Go to original post
For example,
Guild Wars 2 is about to get the long awaited Cantha Expansion probably next year and the first thing people can expect is a Massive Discount on the Elona expansion or it is convered to be free with the Cantha Expansion with the Heart of Thorn expansion (they convered the Heart of Thorn Expansion to be free with the Path of Fire Expansion a few months back) while current expansion owners will still have to pay full price for the Cantha Expansion while new players who pay for the Cantha expansion will also get the Heart of Thorn and Path of Fire Expansion for free as part of the Cantha Expansion Pack.
