My real thoughts on TU8, The good and the bad!
The good stuff that was brought to the game in TU8:
- A very solid expansion story. I really enjoyed the narrative and the storyline.
- A pretty large map to explore and roam around in.
- More new weapons and gear sets to try out
- Extra levels, and a longer end-game
- Seasonal objectives
- New Legendary difficulty level
- More toys for Agents to play with (New skills)
- New (old) enemy factions for a different challenge
- SHD level system, for extra bonuses. Incentivices players to max out the bonuses (800 levels worth of bonuses)
But the update brought many bad things as well:
- Bulletsponge enemies
- Broken invaded missions (Specifically talking about the Minigun dogs and the impossible Medkits) - Black Tusk is the definition of anti-fun.
- Much less build diversity for players
- Removal of many talents that allowed more diversity
- With said removals of talents, it also made exotic items worthless.
- Shotguns being pretty useless (dealing half the intended damage)
- Skills being gutted (However, the Cluster Seekers needed a nerf)
- Gear mods being very limited / gear having less mod slots too.
- Added unnecessary RNG to weapons - To reiterate: The old system with having a flat value based on weapon class and rarity also made speccing into said weapons easier (like yellow Marksman Rifles having 137% headshot damage, shotguns having damage to armor, and so on). I preferred having the RNG on the base damage instead.
- Much more bugs was introduced with the new update
- Reducing signature weapon damage to named NPC's
- Some story level content being unnecessary hard.
- Level 40 players are not able to play with their friends who does not own the expansion (unless the lower leveled player is the game host)
- The removal of Patience!
- The fact that the map has turned very static and boring (like the control points not being contested)
And some things that was MEH! at best:
- Recalibration library being a bit confusing.
- Not being able to return to DC after initiating the NY storyline.
- That you need to be level 40 to initiate the final mission in NY.
- SHD cache needs an NPC to spawn in order to obtain.
