    Trading specialization weapon for a 3rd skill is the only way to make "rolls" work

    It doesn't have to be mandatory, it can be optional.

    But, without a 3rd skill, roles will NEVER ever work in this game.

    personally I would like to see a 3rd Talent on gears.. bc just Backpack and Chest having talent is very very restrictive to me.
    On top of that.. just having mod slots only on Mask, Chest and Backpack.. really limits the permutations of builds we could create...

    But an option to drop the specialization for a 3rd skill.. I have thought of this be4.. but then I suppose you are suggesting a player has this option.. then that means they don't get any perks from any specialization tree correct?

    That's a major loss if so.

    No, they can just choose to use it or not use it. They get all the perks, just replace the weapon with a skill.

    And fyi I can't claim credit for this. I was eating a Swiss roll and remembered an old idea I read last year.

    I would trade my specialization weapon away even if I didn't get a third skill. But i like your suggestion.

    Like having the Res hive as a passive, not being able to throw it to res someone else, to be able to use 2 attack skills

    Ya, something like that. A healer could use riot foam, a tank could use pulse, etc.

    The game just isn't deep enough to sustain a dps, healer, and tank role. It never will be like this.
