What started life as a good tactical 3rd person cover shooter has turned into a generic 3rd person looter shooter.
The bosses are simple bullet sponges with their only challenge being can I survive long enough while running around like an idiot to actually do some damage to them.
Cover is absolutely useless as either the enemies rush your position forcing you out or you are spammed with AoE attacks that force you to run around like an idiot just like EVERY other shooter out there. Tactical cover shooter, the thing that set this game apart from other shooter looters, has gone totally out the window.
Then there’s the boss room mechanics. Here, run around blinded by steam and the constant red pulsing of taking environmental damage while getting shot to hell and constantly set on fire or electocuted, all the while trying to find something to turn off the environmental effect that’s killing you with NO indication of where to go or what to do all the while hitting the boss with headshots doing well over 1,000,000 damage and not removing a single armour bar.
I was excited about the expansion but am finding myself disappointed in how generic this game has become. Of course I probably shouldn’t get my hopes up too much for Ubisoft products anymore as they seem to constantly disappoint these days.
