I'm a TD1 veteran and I went back to TD2 a few weeks ago. I purposely waited a year to play because I know that live service games are glitched at launch.
But TD2 is still in an unfinished state that could only be qualified of BETA.
As you all know, we do not pay to beta test. We pay to enjoy a finished product.
I had 0 glitches with TD1 AFTER 6 MONTHS (which is already unacceptable).
I come back to TD2 and I have crashes and latency issues (I run fiber optic wired...).
I'm currently writing because the PS4 servers are experiencing issues...
I haven't been able to play for more than 24 hours without experiencing a glitch since I bought a copy. After one year of service?
There is a huge problem in the industry. Shareholders now pressure development studios and their publishers to release before a certain fiscal date to ensure profits are met for this quarter and generate quick returns. This is why we get unfinished products.
It is now time for us to raise against those practices and make the industry better (by standing against those shareholders).
The best way to proceed? Vote with your dollars. I haven't bought WONY yet for that exact reason. It is not worth 30 dollars.
As players and consumers, we need to ring the alarm when a product is not released at a satisfying quality. This is vital to this industry's future. All together, we can make a change.
I said this loooong time ago on destiny forums the people are just idiots who dont know to make a simple math and they spend money without knowing they are testers and a tester must not pay to play and they put money on others pockets and while studios get rich we get nerves and angry instead of fun. They don't know 30 dollars X 500k people = 15 millions dollars. May be more or less people but you get the point that is only an example. The studios will never spend 14 millions for developing a game no never. It's all about maybe 200k more or less depends on a lot of factors. I say this because I know a conversation where a GOOD game developing costs was 400k. With publishing and all. Sure there are games who barely make some profit but is not the case for ubi trust me.Originally Posted by A1.Protocol Go to original post
We have to make a change and if it was me I made in that way where in 7 days if you are not happy with the game they must return your money back. Sure this depends on game because are games where in 2 hours you finished (Anthem). I liked how Sony or ubi idk who, give td1 and Wildlands for 8 hours to play and after 8 hours you can't play it anymore if you don't buy.Yes I played Wildlands 8 hours and I will buy it even if it's old. It's a nice and good game in my perspective I tried it and yes sure I will buy it.i played a lot of games on demo and most of them are garbage so I had the chance to see if a game worth buying or not.
And beta games like anthem or TD2 must be free because like you said is an unfinished project and we payed to test it. BioWare was a mess with Anthem but they got the money so no problem for them. The problem is mine and yours cause we payed for nothing. Destiny 2 another unfinished project which is still in beta and we test it. Damn the greed took their brain.
We have to stand up and make changes as gamers but who will listen to us? People today are like sheep and they will listen the streamers who also get paid by studios to promote their games.
I have hundred of games but I play only 2 or 3 because the rest are only garbage. That's why I will buy only when a game is on sale for 10 or 15 dollars or buy it from someone else who sell it for that money. I refuse to feed some people and I get nothing in exchange only nerves . Most of gamers don't even know if we the gamers we stop the studios will crash and no money for them anymore. And when I say gamers I mean GAMERS NOT 1 OR 2 HOURS A DAY.
Maybe is more to say but I am tired, very tired!!
3 euros on Europe or USA? Because on my country was like 15 dollars while on USA PlayStation store was 3 dollars. And is not first game I see such a big difference between my country and USA. Maybe we European are so rich and USA are poor??Originally Posted by tzaeru Go to original post![]()

30 x 500000 = 15 million, not 15 billion.Originally Posted by DevviLL86 Go to original post
I agree. It's just a matter of setting the right expectations and standards. I'm a huge TD fan but I can't support that kind of practice.
Anthem, Red Dead online, TD2, ME Andromeda, Battlefront II...the list goes on. Technically subpar products sold full price at launch and riddled with game breaking glitches and microtransactions.
Those practices will become more and more common if we do not stand against it.
As a gaming veteran (been playing for 22 years, competitively too at a point), I'm concerned.
How polished the products are kinda depends on who you ask:Originally Posted by A1.Protocol Go to original post

Also for what it's worth, Witcher 1 was and is a bit of a mess regarding how finished it is.
Anyway, I really don't see the game even close to as flawed as suggested here. For most parts I rather like it how it is now. I think that what mostly has happened is:
1) Expectation management. People were used to the game being very easy. Now it's not. So people are frustrated, understandably.
2) The base game, while making back its budget, didn't sell as well as Ubisoft had hoped. This created pressure to make back the losses with the expansion.
3) Thus there are several in-built pushes in the expansion to get people to buy it. E.g. separating the recalibration libraries so that people would feel tempted to get the expansion rather than continue grinding the level 1-30 recalib libs.
