I still can't decide. They're definitely more aggressive, which is fun and makes you think on your feat fast, but I feel like the concept of spacing and timing don't matter to them as much anymore. They just got more spammy. Especially, when they are around critical hp. That's when the panic spam begins. Sadly, works on me half of the time.
To anyone here who plays Heavies or slower hybrids: how are you fighting? As Highlander, I just stay away from them, stare them down, until they lose patience and start trying to close the gap, which I punish as much as I can.
P.S. Is it me or berserker is absolutely broken in TG? Give them infinite stamina and players 90% of the time will be capable of winning matches with eyes closed. Hyper armour + unreactable feinted lights... it's like if Highlander had hyper armour on kick and grab, but he could also soft-feint them into each other endlessly.
I am an assasin main. Fighting heavies outside the TG is definetely not fun.
To answer the question: with Hito and bp, I had little trouble with assassins in TG. It was weird I don't steamroll an orochi anymore, but honestly, that is the game goal.
Spacing is a very useful tool even there:
Bp can just sit in fullblock if he knows the guardbreak range, and from there, it is mainly a mixup. Your mixups are unreactable as well, so they must be just as extra careful. Your normal range is also better.
Hitokiri can start her charged heavy mixups from safe range. The hyperarmored light finisher is more useful there too, 400ms, and gives you frame advantage on block.
I write down my experience with my rep 70 pk against the other heavier heroes. I mainly write down the parts of their kit which makes them hard opponents.
Lawbringer: more capable for light attack-based offense than ever. Shove still requires a hardread to punish. Brutal health lead. Longer range. At least it feels like I have a chance now.
Centurion: He sucks. If I lose, that's because I made mistakes.
Warlord: Feels very fast, unless you go for parries on his lights, he locks you in place, you are kinda forced to deal with his mixups. His fullblock is a very strong tool against pk light attacks. His headbutt is very strong now, completely unreactable. Operates on similar spacing range as pk. Heavily read based close quarter fight.
Conq: Good light chain, useful fullblock and bashes. Lower damage. The fight is the same, you must deal with some optionselect and the light chain, the bashes are weak as always. Less problematic in TG, mostly feels like I have the upper hand.
Jormungandr: Heavily controls close quarter combat. Which is of course problematic for assassins, pk also works in close ranfe. Very strong lights, same as Warlord. Early hyperarmor. Heavily burns stamina.
Highlander: He sucks. Never had anything for close range combat, once you enter close range, he is dead. The only difficulty is hitting him out from his initial OS, which is not a big deal.
Shugoki: Easy interrupt tools, very good spacing. You really have to parry him. Has issues with spacing, if you stay out of light range, he can not approach easily.
JJ: Fast light chains, versitile spacing, hyperarmor. His weakness is close range combat, but has tools to keep distance.
Tldr: Heavies are not weak if you utilize strenghts and weaknesses of your kit. Highlander is obviously a weak hero who is especially vulnerable to close combat. Try out a round or two with a Warlord for example, assassins are far less problematic if you play a viable heavy.
I mainly play BP and Hito and i've been enjoying fighting them. I've tried a bit of conq and he's fun against them too. Friends I have who play WL and Mushu have also been having a blast. Full block in general seems like a worthwhile thing to go for these days compared to live. (except BP. He was already enjoying FB on live so nothing's changed for him.)
it upsets very much, but I guess I will give up Highlander and tons of steel and time I invested in him. I still can win as him in TG, but mostly by spamming offesnive lights, which is boring. There is no longer any point to do kick grab, cause most assassins just spam light attacks.
Thanks to the first two guys who replied. I just felt like I can block heavies far easier than assassins. Vanguard is middle ground for me. After I get used, I am sure I will be blocking them far more often.
P.S. lol I can remove half of the hp with offensive lights with the same amount of stamina as doing mixups to land a 1-2 heavies as highlander.
I kept playing an unviable hero for seasons after seasons, and in order to preserve your mental sanity, I really suggest you to not do that, at least give him a break and start to pick up some other heroes for some fights. I hate to admit myself, but I enjoy Black Prior more than Peacekeeper on live, because I feel like someone whose options are not limited and don't have to work extra hard to win fights. Pk is okay again, but it took literally two years. Not much you can do other then wait for a rework.Originally Posted by No0ne_- Go to original post
yeah, I bought Pk, Valkerie and Shaman to test them.
PK seems good, but relies purely on lights, which is bad in dominion, etc. I can really feel lack of bashes and unblockables. Also, I love her deflect. Gives gb or bleed. Very useful.
Valkerie - if you have good reaction, she will lacks offence, but her defensive options are so good, but I just don't like that it's hard to get an execution with her. Most enemies die from pokes.
Shaman... I think I'm gonna main her. Not even rep1, but I am already loving her kit. The only thing I hate is reflex guard, cause I've never really played assassins, but I just enjoy how she runs, her executions, non-spammy style of combat. Her bite and bash is good in Dominions too.
P.S. I'm gonna be so devastated if Shaman gets nerfed to the ground somehow in the future.
