i have a question, is possible use screenshot of the environments from the game and use them like backgrounds on a comic book?even for commercial purpose?
BTW the comic book doesn't be very "commercial", at max take an income from donations and ads revenue, free to read.
Is not similar to youtubers and streamers monetize games images with donations and ads revenue?I dont know.. I have been authorized by other games, saying that a screenshot in a small part is my creation and I am not using the "physical" assets of the game but only the image of them.
BTW is worth a try😁
ps i take screenshot of the environments, not of characters or logos.
I tried to ask on fb, twitter and via email but I did not receive a reply.
Anyone know the rules about it? or can we bring this question to an admin to contact the legal team? that would be great.

So they can make everything, with users creations and we can't take a screenshot, i don't understand how people spend time for creating free maps and models for this sharks.Originally Posted by Steve64b Go to original post
To be fair, it is their property and they have the right to do as they please with their license. IF you really want to make a comic book using 3d renders I recommend you pick up Blender and purchase some commercial assets from Turbosquid or CGTrader.
Oh and we map for the enjoyment of it, no need to start calling people names.
I'm not mad about my case (in my case is even right, ps: a bunch of games gave me the permission, period)Originally Posted by Fallen.Ninja Go to original post
But your answer doesn't have sense, not game at the user's the possibility of monetization? OK fine, but why (is write on the eula) ubisoft can take your creations and distribute, monetized, modify etc etc them and make money OVER other people work? "They are their assets "yes true, but you know there is a figure in the game developer, a job called" level designer "and it does just that!
Use the company tool and create maps, without programming or anything else, not even create the assets (those are the 3D models team) is an assigned person who must create maps.
They have practically thousands of workers without having to pay them or even credit their work.
Your "but we have fun" answer yes yes ok.
But can't you have the same fun creating these maps without Nobody making money about your work?
I repeat: can't you pay me for my work? However, it is hours that people lose their commitment, perfect then we do that these maps are free for everyone and that NOBODY monetize them, ubisoft is offering their assets, true, but people are offering free content to their game, let's call it cry 5 without the maps created by people it would have been a flop, arcade brought a lot of popularity to cry 5, so people are already offering a great service to ubisoft, completely free, because ubisoft must take ownership of people's intellectual property and also speculate on what? I find it extremely wrong.
(I repeat in my case, it is also fair, but not how the rest is managed)
Hello, so basically following what Steve and Fallen Ninja have said, no, you may not just take pictures of the game to use as backgrounds, Far Cry 5 is ubisoft's intellectual property, they own the sound effects, any music they made for it, and all the 3d assets and art is theirs.
simply taking a picture doesn't change that, it's a bit like taking a picture of someone else's art and then be expecting to be able to use it in your work.
a workaround would be if you took reference screenshots, and then made your own original work using those screenshots as a kind of guide, then they'd be your work of art to do what you want with, be it a comic or anything, however, simply tracing them wouldn't be enough, it'd have to be your own original work inspired by the screenshot
