If you had everything and could do everything now then what would be the point?

I don't think anyone can argue the fact that people (myself included) who post on the forums represent a very small minority of the player base. And that holds true for pretty much any game with a community forum.

Given that I am just curious.

Many here are concerned they can't yet do heroic or legendary undertakings solo, they can't speed run missions, they don't already have a min/max set of gear, concerned about how it takes longer to farm items and how bosses don't die quickly anymore amongst other things.

So my question is if you had all this now then what would be the point of playing anymore?

Perhaps I play games for a different reason, but once I could do all the aforementioned things in pre-warlords D2 I basically got bored. I would pop on to check a new update out, but that was about it. For me all loot-shooter type games eventually hit this end state so the fun is getting there.

And I don't really find the PvP in this game to be overly compelling, so perhaps that is the big draw to keep some of you playing after you achieve all the above and the reason you want to basically be at the end game now?

So if you could do it all now, then why even keep playing?

We can do it, it just takes too long.

It's tedious, boring and unsatisfying, not to mention unrewarding.

    You mean like TU7.

I mean heck that was a bore,

Normal difficulty was sad. never touched it
Hard difficulty was an insult to the word Hard. never touched it
Challenge difficulty was not in any way a challenge. but I played it (10 min speed runs) for the most part.
The only difficulty that was worth it's salt in TU7 was Heroic, and there were not enough missions with that difficulty on.

The open world was sad as it comes with Zero threats from any enemies. (Hunters being the only challenge)

A good mission should really take 20 to 30 odd minutes.

The reset was a good thing. The first time I heard from Gear 2.0 was last summer, and honestly I had my doubts, because of all the Title Updates before, but it is a real gamechanger, anything "feels" fresh and interesting again, at least for me.

I'm in NY, but because of the complaints here I went to DC with a 500' character for a few missions. I can't agree. It's better than before, and I can progress.

Anything now is interesting again. I relly appreciate what Massive did with Title Update 8 and Warlords.

I agree, TU7 heroic was worth it. It should have stayed the same.

    Quite challenging and rewarding.

Then there could have been Legendary + Directives, and THAT is what those who love a challenge should have use.

Call me casual, I don't care, but that's how I and many others liked the game.
Some of you wanted the challenge, it could have been added above what used to be there, not trash everything through a bulletsponge filter.

I'm so mad because I loved this game, I really looked forward to this expansion, just to see everything burned to ashes.
I looked forward to have my usual heroic farming while having the possibility to get the challenge through Directives, instead I won't do anything of the sort because I no longer derive joy from playing.

I used to constantly be in the top 3 contributors of my clan, now I've just done a mission a day for the last 3 days I still am in 3rd position... noone from my clan is playing.

Well, I think the point would be quite similar to what is best in life: To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women!

Swings and roundabouts I stopped playing 4 months ago because it was the same old same old, nothing new, too easy, no challenge and a god awful gear system. yet still have 700 hours in, i'm playing 4 x as much now than I did before per day.

To answer the OP's question, fun. Thats why i played prior to this update. It was fun. I did not need to farm gear. I had a set that was fun to use. This new update took all the fun away. There is no point in a dps build when you get one or two shot by npc. There is no point in a tank build when 1 mill plus armor is paper. There is no point in a skill build when skills have been neutered and are not fun. So yeah, no point in playing the game right now.

i suppose some prefer chasing the carrot for the rest of their lives, problem is you will never get gud in this game, no matter how long you play, because they can't take it all away, scrap and make new rules and the only thing you gonna do is deal with it and considering this is the sp game ones you done with story there is nothing else to do, except chasing that carrot
