Bullet Sponges Are Back - Definitely Needs A Nerf

I've been playing the last couple of days, put together a build last night to try and get a feel for the new system, after stacking a ton of offensive attributes like weapon damage, CHC, CHD and Armor Damage and trying a mission on Challenging I went through all of my ammo before the first area was clear.

Checked with my friends and all of them are saying the same, teams are fine if everyone specialises but good luck playing anything solo right now, it feels like Division 1 update 1.3 again. There's nothing wrong with a challenge but if you put everything into raw damage then you should be able to take down enemies without that much trouble, unlike what's happening now.

With Season 1 starting in 5 days I doubt this is going to be fixed by then or before it ends so I've shelved the game again. I love the Division and have been playing constantly throughout year one but I'm struggling to defend this game when it doesn't even look like Massive test this stuff before release properly, I mean look at the community leaders bug for christ sake. This honestly needs to be adjusted quickly if you don't want what's left of the community taking a further nosedive.

Can’t say I’m having the same problem our team is pretty much blue stacked builds so damage is definitely lower than a full red build but we put down challenge enemies pretty fast and we move as a team to pick up dropped ammo if needed .... some enemies are spongy a little bit but you have to remember this game is a stat based looter mmo..... all enemies are spongy in these types of games if they wasn’t the game loses its identity as a stat based mmo looter and becomes just a regular shooter like ghost recon , cod etc ...

Sponge is good it creates gameplay having to moves as they push or retreat , moving to ammo , the importance of cc’s team work etc

If everything died any faster the game play would be boring ... get cover shoot till everything’s dead in 3 minutes move to next area forget all tactics and other aspects of the game Which is what the games been like since they nerfed the ai into the ground not long after release ...now it’s back to how it used to be .. longer fights more movement tactics etc and best of all more difficult

Agreed. I have a pretty balanced build with about 5-6M DPS on my assault rifle with my build geared more towards damage and I'm just holding down the trigger and putting half a mag in to a level 40 red assault. Pretty ridiculous. Looks like the bullet sponges are back after this update which I hate. Not having enemies be BS was one of the reasons I loved this game, but now it's already wearing thin on me and I've only just finished the story and started building. Took me almost all of my 810 assault rifle rounds to down one elite unnamed heavy. Hoping it's different once building is complete, but it's not looking good.

I also used all of my specialization ammo (gunner) on one elite named enemy, got half his armor down with every round I could carry. 250 specialization rounds, I think, and that's all the damage you do. Way underpowered, doesn't make me feel like an elite agent, makes me feel like I'm just starting and I don't have anywhere near the gear I need.

If you hate bullet sponges why are you playing the division ? A stat based looter mmo which like all other games of it’s type have damage sponge enemies ...thats how these types of games work dude just because it has guns for damage not swords magic bows like other games in the genre of stat based looter mmo’s doesn’t mean it’s not going to have bullet sponge enemies and cc mechanics , heals over time , aoe’s like everything other game of its type lol ... that’s like buying a racing game and being like man I hate having to drive cars in this game

Also the sponge ain’t even that bad I’m running a high armor high healing build with low weapon damage but the few red it’s does have are crit chance and crit damage
    1/4/1
    7/5/3
And I’m putting challenge enemies down fairly easily , go through a fair bit of ammo but that’s cuz I’m playing solo right now and because there is a lot of enemies in the right but with moving to pick ammo up from dead npc when I’m getting low I’m not having a issue with not having enough ammo

Dammit, why you guys dont try learn how to play and read "rpg looter shooter...bullet sponge enemies" before buy and complain?

Im using tier6 skillbuilds since launch of warlords and i dont have problem to stay alive or kill enemies.

They arent "5seconds to kill" anymore...this is great!! We have challenge finally play like a tactical rpg looter shooter instead just run like cockroachs steamrolling everything with cluster/stinger or svd@aces like we did before...

That's the point I'm making though, you have a team which works but if you're solo it's getting over the top even on Challenging, you shouldn't need to stack everything in Offense playing solo and still run through 1000 bullets by the first/second area.

A challenge is definitely good, tougher enemies on harder difficulties with scaling is good. Red enemies that need half a mag on Solo Hard, not so good imo.

Exactly this, I see where people are coming from with the tougher enemies, bigger challenge opinion but this is over the top to the point where you can't play solo without them sponging on some next level, even if you make a fully optimised build. They need a slight nerf in my opinion.

This is the most stupid post I've seen here. I've been playing Division since day 1 and only once or twice have the enemies been this spongy resulting in the devs nerfing them. There's nothing wrong with a challenge, but when you're using 1000 bullets to clear the first part of a mission on the second lowest difficulty something's clearly wrong.

Why are you even going on about healing, AoE and racing games? Nothing to do with my post and completely off topic. Seems like you haven't actually played Division in over 3 years and just sit on this forum telling people how MMORPG's work.

Yes, you're using a Tier 6 Skill Build, which seems to be the only build worth making this update because nothing else works. I never used cluster, stinger or Aces in Year 1.

Try making a logical glass cannon offensive build and when you still can't drop people on Challenging you'll get my point.

the problem is not that they are bullet sponge, the problem is that it rushes you over and over, the same as when the game come out last year, they had solved the problem but it is now back

Also all players only play with off stuff , not defense.

I've noticed this too, the enemy AI are being relentlessly aggressive, it makes it more dynamic when it comes to playing but so much harder when they take so much damage.

I think Skill Builds are back in this time, all offensive builds are pointless at the moment and stacking Armor doesn't help too much past a certain point.
