Level 40 pre end of story = no SHD levels? No caches?

So I hit level 40 before finishing the story because, you know, the story couldn't be progressed due to a massive bug.

Now I'm seeing the level up animation so I must have earned enough XP to level up, but no option to spec into SHD or caches being rewarded, also the XP progress bar isn't going up.

Anyone else notice the same? I assume it's because the story hasn't been finished, which would be hilarious. Like, the devs didn't think that would ever be a possibility.

You do, nothing counts until you get the new watch.

If you reach level 40 before finishing the story, none of your level up progress is stored anywhere. You will first gain points AFTER finishing the story.
    Spoiler:  Show
It is because you need an item from the last boss for that, namely the watch.

You can only earn SHD levels after finishing the WoNY campaign. Being level 40 is not enough. You need a special watch for the SHD levels, and you get that watch after finishing the last WoNY mission.
