    Gear is boring now.

i'm not going to talk your ear off.

the way that Gear was 'simplified' involved deleting most of the Mod Slots, and deleting most of the Perk Slots. as well as making most Ability Mods have a barely noticeable effect on the actual Abilities, where having or not having them largely makes zero difference in Gameplay. i even fiddled around with some of the Ability Mods i had and the Stat changes on some of them were small enough that it didn't even reflect the change in the UI because the UI doesn't go out to enough Decimal places to represent the change.

you bet it's simpler now, but there's also just way less for me to do with Gear. it's mostly automatic, me the player doesn't really make any choices into the Gear, it almost entirely does it on its own. i'm not picking a bunch of things to mix together as a 'build', because there's only a few basic Stats to be choosing between.
    with the Perks&Mods largely gone.
that's... the point of Gear in loot driven games, for Players to be making choices, experimenting with Playstyles, Et Cetera. but there's very little of that left now.

makes me kinda not want to play the game anymore, as now it's a loot driven game, but.... doesn't really have the loot to, well, drive it. half of the game was loot, the other half the Gameplay - one half of the game is basically gone.
a cool Narrative that i appreciate and an overall very nice looking game still there, but now a game that set itself up to be loot driven, no longer is.
no, this has nothing to do with how powerful the Player is vs Enemies - it's about choices in Gear (or rather, now a lack of).

yesterday i was happily going to play the game for countless years to come, and today now half of the game is just boring.

(also why did the Perks and Stats on seemingly everything in the game get completely randomized? why would you do that. you didn't even convert Stats that were being removed into something else, you randomized every Stat and Perk on every item.....)

Agree with a lot of that. I like buildcrafting, it's why I kept playing this and stuck it out for a year. Now what am I suppose to build? Cookies?

I took a 4 day weekend for this. Looks like I'll finally paint the living room.

Buildcrafting seems to be gone now.
The game feels totally empty now, it's like Path of Exile doesn't have no gems anymore.
There is no rewarding feeling left. Even the exotics are crippled to be standard.
There is nothing left to discover in TD2. I really don't understand this. I started playing the game two weeks ago and was surprised about how well it felt, but now i'm literally not motivated to play any further. The complexity was key for me. Now it feels empty and soulless.

As a div 1 player I got to say this feels like div1 simply tuned down even more it's boring but understandable I feel like dev's could of found a middle ground btw having players understand the gear and the complexity of then builds.

I've been cr@pping on the expansion, but for reasons other than gear (basically game breaking bugs). Gear is much better I find. There is tank gear, DPS gear, skill damage gear and control gear. That's basically how MMO's should be, whether they are looter shooters or WoW types.

See my "Horrors of RNG" thread...

Are you seriously going to miss getting gear drops like this?

Gloves with LMG damage, AR damage, Marksmanship rifle damage and pistol damage in one roll.....

    OR....

A marksmanship set piece with AR and LMG damage?

Honestly, if that's what you're going to miss the most about Gear 1.0 then you're probably in the minority.

What they did to the exotics is pretty bad though, and things are much simpler in terms of gear (which I agree is bad, especially for a looter/shooter that revolved around synergy in making builds), but the days of 99% of your drops being vendor trash are over, which made gear drops just boring.

I'll see how things are at 40 when we start getting into the meat and potatoes of everything.

Gear is boring blah blah, come on people play the game and give it some time. You haven't even had time to experience gear yet.

For me playing a game is like watching a movie , the first 5 mins , can make or break the experience , and yes the game is now boring , it is NOT the same game , and it feels lifeless and dead,. they done the graphics nice looks great in daylight , but they have killed the game play. may as well go buy COD now.

Nope. You mention minority and then use one as an example. Library was a good fix, recalibrating an attribute and a talent would've been a simple easy fix, etc.

AND it was interesting. This isn't.

you've summed up that you don't like loot and Gear in loot and Gear driven games. you want there to be 3 Classes, of which we can easily do 2 of them at once, so literally all Gear is, is picking between Offensive+Abilities, or Defensive+Abilities.
there's literally nothing else that you can do with Gear. because there's no choices.

exactly what do you think people are missing? Arithmetic isn't difficult. your 'build' choices are +Damage, +Shields/Health, +Regen, and +Ability.
there aren't any other Stats or Perks or anything in the game.

    - - - - -

the 'Library' Codex thing is okay, even though i was 100% perfectly happy with Gear as it was - yeah it takes me a while to find the exact Stats&Perks i'm looking for, that's what you do in loot driven games, you seek loot - but removing almost every choice in the game, how does that many anything 'better'. it just makes everyone the same as one another. you can't be creative when everyone has about as much diversity as flipping a coin does.
"not enough diversity" was apparently solved by removing all diversity.
    yeah, that'll show 'em.....
