Why do developers think it's a good idea to take a game after it being released for almost a year and completely rework the main mechanics?! Me personally, I only just recently purchased the game when it on sale for $3 in the Xbox Store but I've put enough time into it to get to World Tier 4 and have my gear and stats how I wanted. Now I hop on the game after this update and it's like I'm playing on WT4 with a new character. I feel sorry for those that have been playing since the release, just to have to try and rebuild your character all over again.
1 important reason why the gear changed — to correct the foundation of the direction the game is headed.
Specialization had no real purpose, now it does. Skills had no real purpose with the firearms contributing 99% of the combat — now it does.
The new gear system is simple: either go firearms or skills or both.
The previous system had no real classification and was linear — firearm damage.
With the new change, you must pick a role to fulfill. Are you glass cannon, tank, skill based, etc.
I didnt understand the new system until i compared all the sets and core attributes. The game now has direction and isnt random.
I agree with what you're saying but I don't think it addresses the issue being made: to have built a character the way you wanted them and then discover that most of what you've looted - created - calibrated... is now gone or totally different is amazingly frustrating and makes you feel angry.
I lost loads of talents and attributes that I'd spent ages finding and now I've got to either give it up or go through and do that all over again. That's a miserable thought rather than an exciting possibility. When I think about playing now I feel annoyed and frustrated rather than enjoying it and it sucks.
To have your gear and stats the way you want it in WT4 means nothing as its merely a stepping stone to get to WT5. There is ZERO reason to worry about stats and builds in WT4, ZERO. In WT2-4 the only thing you need to do is equip the highest gearscore equipment and run the missions to get ro WT5 and only then worry about your build(s). So the OP really has nothing to complain about.
As for everyone else in WT5, the majority quit playing the game a long time ago due to the horrible budget system for stats along with the brutal RNG that came with that budget system, among other thing like poorly designed gearsets, bad skill system, stupidly good stat rolls from low lvl clan vendors that broke pvp, etc etc etc.
This complete refresh is exactly what the game needed and hopefully can move forward now with these much better designs to stats and gear.
Dont like it? Too bad. The majority of changes are things that have been asked for since beta and the first weeks of release.
Gotta say, initially I wasn’t at all impressed with the trashing of all our builds but I’m now kinda looking forward to starting fresh and building up again.
However, the nerfing of exotics is way over the top. BTSU gloves in particular. They’re now garbage unless you use the Hive which I never do, nor should I be forced to.
And you okay with that after you bought a game, and played for a year, right?Originally Posted by Swoop_101 Go to original post
I'm not actually. There supposed to have at least half a year alpha and insider beta and open beta for testing this out. you don't do a 180 after a year on game-release. Not with a DLC, not with the main game, ever.
Just terrible project management. They should get fired. No bonuses either. If I would do this in my work I would definitely get fired.
They made it pretty clear that gear was going to be drastically changed, so it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone at all. Personally I don't like the removal of so many talents as I think it's going to negatively impact build diversity, but most of the other changes benefit the game. Only time will tell, and you can bet this isn't going to be the last change they make. They will listen to the feedback and make more changes over the coming months for sure.
To those people saying how it's been a waste of a year to grind for builds only to have to start again... You play games for fun, the grind was fun, piecing together the builds was fun. There is no other measure of your time investment than how much fun you had in the process. This isn't a job, there is no prize at the end of it for min maxing all your builds. If you ever play a game and expect your time investment to be worth anything tangible then you really need to re-evaluate.
When did they say that exactly? Not at the beginning or the game right?Originally Posted by I__Am__Dave Go to original post

If they would say that do you really think I and many others would have bought the game? Obviously not mate! Not at all!
The same way I'm not buying Warlords until like half a year or maybe a year later.
