Dear devs at Ubi/Massive
Today I spent around 3-4 hours playing The Division 2 after the big update. Just the regular D2 stuff, I didn't buy the expansion yet. I'm ok with all the changes in gear, I already knew all my cool builds would be gone. So I made some adjustments with the gear I have (and I have a LOT of stuff) and off to the world I went.
But what I found out made me so frustrated I felt the need to stop playing to address some issues (aka ranting).
Players are back to being made out of glass. The amount of armor/health you have is irrelevant, if an enemy manages to flank you, you are DEAD in less than a second.
Enemies (including the regular red life ones) are spongier than ever. During the Saint fight in Grand Washington Hotel, I had to go back to restock TWICE. And it was on HARD!! Such a thing had never happened before. Well, GWH has a pretty useful restocking chest at the entrance of the scenario, but I'm pretty concerned with other missions: I believe some don't even have a restocking chest available.
And the elites: we're back to the time where you need to hit an elite around 25-30 times with a high damage rifle to kill them. That's not only beyond unrealistic, it's incredibly NOT FUN. Elite Medics now run towards you, kneel right in front of you, heal their fallen companion back to full, stand up and shoot you (taking away ALL of your armor and 75% of your health in a single shot) all while you repeatedly shoot them in the face with a rifle. Hadn't we stablished very clearly that this type of behavior isn't acceptable? Shouldn't enemies run for cover when shot at? Shouldn't they be staggered a bit with all the shooting, at least enough to prevent them from healing a fallen companion?
Also back are the times where shotguns damage you like they've been shot at point blank, when they are being shot at a marksman rifle's distance with about the same precision. Fun times (not!).
But the most ridiculous situation was when I was attacking a control point and an enemy kept shooting the minigun for over two minutes without pause. I even thought the overheat mechanic was removed, but when I tried the VERY SAME minigun later, it was overheating as usual. So now NPCs are breaking environmental rules? I even captured some of that in video because I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
And last but not least: shouldn't getting gear over score of 500 make me STRONGER? Because I'm 510 at the moment and I feel WEAKER THAN EVER!!!
Have not gotten the expansion. Knew I would lose some on the current build but was not prepared for the 250,000 damage loss on my seekers, the 15,000 damage loss on my turret, the 20,000 damage loss on my MK17 and the 9,000 damage loss on my AK-M. I additionally lost about 90,000 armor and 30,000 health. Be that as it may, I saddled up and launched Jefferson Trade Center on Hard (solo). I soon discovered the NPCs were vewy, vewy powerful. I was getting one shotted by reds across the map. It was then I discovered I had been restricted to 4 armor ("med") packs... lol. Re-thinking my approach, I successfully completed the mission. And although it was a much tougher fight today compared with last night I think I will enjoy trying to run it on challenging next time. I was more exasperated with the gear drops in the 480 range than the difficulty.
With that said, I agree with the OPs overall assessment of the 'new' base mechanics reverting to the 'old' ways.

Accurate. I'm sure you will be told 500 times you just need to "refarm" you gear. Nevermind you used your stashed items to piece together a new set of gear like I did. the game is definately not balanced anymore.Originally Posted by MarmottaBR Go to original post
Quote: so people are forgetting what they said in the last SOTG. Normal missions will get you ready for Hard. Hard will get you ready for Challenging. Challenging will get you ready for Heroic. If you're thinking you'll be able to jump right in on Challenging missions after the Gear 2.0 switch, you're going to get crushed
Hard is now like Heroic. Challenging = death. Heroic now impossible.
Gear nerfed to useless.
Getting shredded by Veteran NPCs.
Put 2 canisters of flamethrowers ammo on 1 elite ... didn't even slow him down. Turret, 3 grenades & 12 mags of AR ammo to kill.
Ubisoft YOU ARE A JOKE
Exactly this happened to me while attacking some control point in White House area. Enemy at a balcony shooting the minigun continuously (and very accurately). Thought it was some bug, maybe the overheating time was extended...nope, he kept shooting it for several minutes. And yellow NPC rushing me while I kept unloading an LMG into him - didn't matter, he reached me and killed me while I was trying at the same time to reload the LMG for the Nth time, to relocate again and again to prevent being flanked and to use my 5th or 6th armor kit, which I sadly found no longer exist.
