SO LET ME
NOO CHEERS![]()
I was playing this morning, at the middle of the mission I noticed a message saying that the game will be interrupted with a 2h30min downtime.
And now, I have 42Gb of data downloading... Was there a 42Gb update? THis is crazy. I just downloaded the game?! I just started playing. Waiting for 2h30 for a server maintenance was annoying, but fair. But now, I have to download 42Gb?
That's like hours of download with the wife complaining about why there is no Wifi or a full day at half speed or something... We don't have the fiber network yet. So chill on the GBs of download.
So, yeah. unhappy about all of this. This is not balanced.
Well, thanks for the explanation.
But yes, of course I didn't know. And honestly, I don't care. You think I have to care about what's happening in the life of each game I own? I have like 50games on my computer at all times. Do you think I can follow the news of each game? Seriously? Even the Corona virus don't get much attention from me.
You can't really ask me to follow the news...
And once again, I just downloaded the game. I just finished a 50Gb download. And it was annoying. I just started playing, and now, I have to start another big download? How are they planning that?
I have an idea. Why don't they release their big patch, then give the free week end, the big discount and then welcome new players? That's what I would do. When I have to take a decision impacting my customers, my paying customers, I'm extra careful to make their lives easier. Timing is key.
At least do that to save network bandwidth. They say that a google search is like 3grams of carbon. What about all these computers downloading and downloading again a few days later?
Anyway, just saying. I downloaded 50Gb, was painful, started playing, started enjoying it, now I have to download AGAIN.... Not cool.
You do realize there is actual specific data in that update? It is not like they just randomly pick a number for the size of the update.... It is like complaining about your 24" monitor is bigger than a matchbox....
Or would you like game development to be restricted because some people donĝt have the patience to wait a couple of hours for a download to complete... I don't get what you would rather have happen
To the OP. I mean this with all due respect, and generally am not trying to be a **** here. But this is on you, and no one else. You, decided to buy the game. You knew what your Internet is like whether that's the area you live in or the local infrastructure. This is on you, not them. As a gamer you must know the general size of games these days, the possibility of patches being big or expansion etc. It does not matter whether you live alone or have your own full blown family going on, again that's down to you, not any game company or developers.
While i do understand and fully appreciate the pain it can be to download at this size and the waiting times it causes, again that's down to you or us as gamers. As for the " Repack " Comment, you do realize that this is a somewhat a false sense of thinking. While a download like this may take say 2 hours, it is installed at the same time. Now you might download a repack, in say one hour, but then, it has to be unpacked and installed, unpacking could take several hours, depending on the size. So in one sense you gain absolutely nothing. In my opinion, while repacks might work sometimes being quicker to download, i see it as nothing more than a Placebo effect.
You missed the point completely.
This is not about the size of the game or the local internet infrastructure or knowing about the update or knowing about anything...
In his case, he started downloading the game. Went to sleep at 95%. So what do you expect if you were in his boots? Well, you expect to wake up and find the game waiting for you, ready to enjoy.
But no. Actually, he woke up to see that the download was interrupted by an update and now he have to wait AGAIN.
Ubisoft can't prepare for such things? Like release their big patch then do something to attract new players? Or at least preload the patch or something to ease the load of data to download?
No, they went the easy way.
I'm not much different than him. I downloaded the whole game. And it's a big game. Then a few days later, I have to start another big download.
If this is nothing, then why not send us a patch every week? Like play the game for two days, then download for 3days, play 2, update 3 etc... Would be an awesome experience for any gamer.
Of course, they won't release a big patch everyday.
Just understand that if you started playing this week, it means you had to download the game twice. That's it. That's poor planning.
And people will get angry. Like our fella here. And he is not a professional working for ubi to care for their players. He is not supposed to owe anyone anything. While Ubi owes a little respect.
Just don't release a big patch while new players are still downloading the game because you released a few discounts.
