Noob guide to testing grounds - using frame advantage

    Just block.

Blocking any light that bounces (non enhanced lights) gives you frame advantage. That means if you input a light after you blocked your enemies light while your enemy tries to "spam you to death" it will result in your light beating your opponents light straight up allowing you to continue your chain.

This will not work if you stop to get a drink after a block. Use frame advantage immediately or lose it.

If your opponent finishes a chain this will generally give you frame advantage as well.

You will most of the time NOT have frame advantage IF:
    Your opponents attack hit you
You blocked an attack that doesnt bounce on block (any heavy, any enhanced attack) and isnt a chain finisher.

This is also the case if you eat a neutral light attack as well. You should be capable of stuffing their light attempt if you don't switch guards. Alternatively you should be able to dodge out as well.
