    Frustrated with Gear Score.

I've played this for about 80 hours now, and to progress, I need a Gear Score of 375.

Whatever I do, I only have a GS of about 365.

I have been taking on Bounties, Housing Projects, and collecting the gear as prizes.

No matter what, my GS seems to be about the same.

    What am I doing wrong?

What can I do to increase my GS?

    Please help!

Upgrade your crafting bench and make sure you are progressing through the world tiers from 1-5. You will naturally start getting higher level drops.
You can also add me on discord or in game ( name spelt same as in here), And I will help you if possible.

If you have friends that are 500 get them to drop gear for you, instant 500

    Thank you for the replies!

It kind of sucks that a good way to get a high gear score is to get help from a friend lol, but I can see how it would help.

I'll try the other suggestions and see what i can do - it's just frustrating to not know how to do it, with a clear objective in mind to plan for.

Anyway, back to the game, trying to get that dam GS up!

Yes, your character's GS is an average of all your equipped gear and weapons. Hypothetically, if you swap out to a different GS item for a specific tasking, you should expect to see a respective change in your overall GS.

Yeah it's kind of counter intuitive that you have to use bad high level gear to increase your gear score rather then keeping you good lower score gear. But I remember still being able to progress through the story with low level gear that synergized well. From there I think it became easier to find higher leverrl gear. But to this day my gear score is rarely maxed out, due to certain attributes on lower level gear. Much luck with RNG.

There seems to be a little confusion and I think it is because two concepts are being discussed.

Your gear score, for the purpose of meeting the gear score requirements in world tiering, is determined by what you have equipped. People often forget about the side arm slot. Also, mods on armor seem to count.

Don't worry too much about build and gear brands and optimizing until you get to the final stretch. Make your build synergetic where you can, but but don't hesitate to equip something else just because you need to get your number up.

The pieces you are wearing and weapons you are using may seem like they are keepers, but they are not. You will need to replace everything once at the GS495+ level.

That being said, don't throw that gear away. Especially if it has high attribute or rare talent. You will use recalibration to move those to your newer gear.

The other thing being discussed is what influences the drops. That is a whole another ball of wax. Yes, the gear you have in inventory does seem to influence the drops. There is also anecdotal feelings by some that drops are also influenced by what things drop which you either do -- or do not -- pick up or desconstruct.

The theory is that if a holster drops with 14% critical hit chance, if you pick it up OR destruct it, the system counts that as it somehow helped you out. The theory is that you will be less likely to see another drop with 14.5%. If you do not pick it up or deconstruct it, the system considers it something you got nothing from and hence the RNG system will be more likely to send you one with
    14.5%.

There is no way to prove this theory, but in my experience it does seem to be a possibility.
