No, thus dev team has been extremely tight lipped about everything about this IP, for years, even when things were on schedule. The title update that introduced the Mercenaries mode for Wildlands, was only revealed 4 or 5 hours, before they actually released it. In fact, I think there has only been one time, where they revealed any info about an upcoming patch, more than 1 or 2 business days before it released.Originally Posted by Big-Rooney Go to original post
A loot system, by it's very definition, is not realistic. There isn't a single battlefield on this planet, where a soldier is taking off their helmet, to replace it with a baseball cap, because it has a higher armour role, or offers a buff to weapon handling.Originally Posted by Roguewood Go to original post
That is a fantasy loot system.Originally Posted by Megalodon26 Go to original post
But in battlefields where it include guerrillas.
Yeah there is looting.
Scavenging.
Taking the enemy guns, armor, ammo. Etc
This is what would be a realistic loot.
Kind of like Dayz and Tarkov.
Arma 3 also has a lite version of realistic looting.
During the campaign.
I would go out in patrols a lot, ambush small groups of soldiers.
Kill them with headshots so I wouldn't damage their armor and take it.
Take their rifles, their scopes and sights.
I even raided a small enemy fob and got the mortars and hmg's.
See, games like Dayz, Tarkov and Metro, are more survival games, than looter game, where you basically start with nothing, and only have access to whatever is in your limited inventory. So you're not carrying a few dozen different weapons, helmets, and plate carriers. But looter games, like Breakpoint, Division, Destiny and Anthem, you are constantly looking for better gear, trying to min/max your build, or builds, to to use in different situations. IE; swapping to a weapon with a higher "damage to Drones" stat, when facing a raid boss.
But you have loot in survival games.
You have loot in different real life scenarios.
If that is what they mean realistic looting.
Yeah it's a good thing.
If it's not.
I will lose my interest in this game.
And you don't necessarily start with nothing.
In Arma 3 you start with a basic infantry loadout minus the helmet.
I played a modified version of the campaign with RHS stuff...
So I ended up collecting a lot of things on the base.
To be honest this is what I thought they were aiming for.
When they first announced the game.
A campaign driven survival game with loot mechanic similar to Arma 3 or tarkov.
Where you go grabbing the gear from your enemy.
Scopes, vest's.
Weapons.
Not loot boxes. And what we have
Yeah that would actually work for me. "Loot" being scavenging equipment. It aligns more with the basic premise of being alone and hunted. Make the ONLY way to get weapons is off the enemy (and the only ammo they carry is for the specific weapon they have). They would have been the only weapon source on the island with maybe some old WW2 stuff laying around and an occasional shotgun from the homesteaders, You want special attachments you need to take down an armory location or maybe a wolf base. Not shop at some general store in a cave and make stuff from blueprints w/o even having a machine shop... and no I don't buy the 3d printers making assault rifles quite yet... Granted it wouldn't be long before you were well equipped, but it would make more sense than what we have.Originally Posted by ArgimonEd Go to original post
