Hey fellow agents,
something I still do not have a clear picture in mind of is the question: When a player jumps into the WoNY DLC - what will be the difference of the character of a new player using his level 30 boost (equipped with most probably random average gear to start with) and the character of a 1,000 hours veteran using his main character?
As Gear 2.0 will drop with WoNY, all the builds the veteran player previously has created , will be useless. The bonuses of the Brand Sets, the talents, the attribute system will change so vastly that this will most certainly crush the logic behind every build. So what you will then be playing with is - most probably a random average gear to start. Maybe one or another roll will be better than average, but only as long as you are not reaching level 31 or 32...
So:
What's the difference here to using a completely new character who has never seen a mere second of TD2 gameplay? What will our efforts in DC be worth upon entering NY again?
Exactly. Veterans will still have the advantage of familiarity with how the game plays, as well as a stock of gear that should still be functional (assuming you kept some) to start the leveling up process.Originally Posted by BioXTC Go to original post
It does affect your game. If the DLC started without Gear 2.0, veterans would have the advantage (kind of as a reward for their efforts in DC) of having several good builds with some way above average rolls. That's a bit of a headstart until you reach level 32 (or so). A complete wipe of one's work and progress never feels very rewarding. Thus I was wondering.
I don't want to impact new players' experiences - the way they can directly hop into the DLC is great. I am really just curious to know exactly which of my efforts of the last 12 month will be worth more than nothing after the 3rd of March. Builds? Nope. Exotics? Maybe later, but not in a confirmed way. Gear in general or Gear Sets? Depends - and only until you start leveling up in NY (so maybe for one or two hours of gameplay). High rolls for recalibration? Will be obsolete with the new higher rolls of level 31, 32, 33, ... gear. Materials for crafting? Yes, maybe - if your normal blueprints can be upgraded to the new higher levels. They might come in handy more once you reach level 40. But at this point of the game every agent will probably have enough material to craft everything you want to have.
difference between new player and veteran? LOTS OF DAMAGE/ARMOR.
if proficiency will be replaced by shd points and those points can be allocated in weapon damage, armor, reload etc its easy see that 2 players with EXACT SAME GEAR but one having 1 year on game and other being new... new guy will be totally shrreded into pieces due veteran guy having lots of points allocated in damage, armor etc.
