For Honor is proving to be too challenging in some parts. This is due to the fact that I suffer from a medical condition that greatly affects my reaction times. My reaction times can be several seconds slower than an average person. And this is making blocking the attacks very difficult. Even fighting against npc characters is very difficult for me. I have not even dared to try multiplayer mode yet because I'm sure I just get killed over and over again.
In fps games my disability doesn't matter so much because I can compensate my reaction time with good aim and using the element of surprise against enemies. But in a fast paced sword fighting game like this, it's almost impossible to compensate my disability with anything. It it just sad. I love this game but I'm not sure if I can ever get better at it because I was born into a broken body, so having delayed reaction times is quite simply a natural part of me.
For Honor is unfortunately far too heavily reliant on reaction times. It can be mitigated slightly by only playing 4v4 modes where winning doesn't hinge so much on reaction times and is more about team coordination, map awareness and game sense.
The only other thing you can do to slightly ease the burden of reaction times is to train up your prediction game.
Vakris gave a good advise. I have problems with concentrating and quickly reacting, I mainly compensate for this by thinking a second ahaed. For example, it is almost impossible to react to Orochi's second light after a heavy, so I just decide that I will parry on the left the moment I see an indicator. There are stuff that are otherwise unreactable for everyone else, so you won't be in a big disadvantage if you improve your prediction game.
Where you might suffer some disadvantages is against otherwise bad, reactable characters.
PS. Also, try to find the character who compensates for this weakness the most. I chose pk and dragged her to rep 70, which was a very stupid choice for someone like me.
If your reaction timing is slow, this isn't the game you should be playing, not in PvP at least. Play PvE, if you play PvP with slow reaction speeds you'll eventually rise to a point in the matchmaking where you won't be able to win.
I've played since release and am at a point where my light attacks get parried maybe half of the time, my reaction times aren't fast enough to parry most light attacks in online VS, so the game became a lot less fun for me.
If you're on PC I'd recommend Mordhau, it's huge PvP battles but there is a lot less focus on tight timings and more so about misleading enemies, it's also physics based so you actually need to be hit with the swing, you can duck under attacks or use spacing to gain an edge.
The only crappy thing about Mordhau is the high skill level play, it starts looking more ridiculous the higher you go (360⁰ spinning with max mouse sensitivity, jerky animations. But if you're playing the big battles most people don't put that try hard effort in.
