Personally, I liked several aspects of FC2 but didn't like the malaria and gun jamming components as many others complained about as well. ....but instead of retaining what was good from that game, they oversimplified and / or simply removed what worked vs. improving upon it. ......which seems to be what Ubi tends to do. I didn't care for the direction they took FC3 and 4 in but they still had enough there to keep me entertained. FC5 IMO was horrible in many ways and quite frankly, I don't know why it still did well for them but there is simply nothing left there for me anymore.Originally Posted by Slarlac249 Go to original post
AC Black Flag was a refreshing change IMO and likely my favorite of the series as a follow up to the taste we got from AC3 of naval warfare. ....but then it was right back to business as usual and quite frankly, I just got bored with that. I think I skipped one or two and then Syndicate was the last for me.
GRW and combat was more what I think many had hoped TD1 would be. It was very disappointing when it was revealed hey went with RPG mechanics in that game. However, although I hated the bullet sponge mechanics, it worked for me as a console shooter that kept me busy off and on until GRWs release. The only reason I bought TD2 was due to a friend getting it. They said they listened to the community and cut back the sponginess which they did to an extent initially but it seemed to creep back up again with tweaks they continued to make after release. There were also issues with rendering performance that they ignored for weeks and then finally acknowledged but I still don't know if they fixed. I inadvertently fixed it when I bought an external SSD for more storage space but I was still soured by the whole experience.
I think my disinterest in the next Watch Dogs is simply a result of my bad experience with Ubi's other games to be honest.
Same here never going for UBI games from now,
- First they messed up launch of Watchdogs ( downgrades, different editions) . Same went with division 1 . After putting 1000 hrs in,realised GAAS model are scam. Never touched division 2 and crew 2
- Butchered my fav Assassin' s series with grindy things .
- Far New dawn followed same path. And if far cry 6 and WDL follow same, im out.
- And now , breakpoint ( joining groups with ANTHEM, FALLOUT 76)
never again UBI . U lost a passionate fan.
Me too,I'm so sick to my stomach about how UBISOFT has POOPED all over US and there games the last couple of years. For ME ,Ghost recon was the final straw. Never ever ,ever again will I TRUST UBISOFT at there WORD!And I sure as hell will NEVER pre-order, First day released, or allow anyone to gift ME any titles UBISOFT releases in my future AGAIN ...Ever! Infact moving forward ,if I even think I'm interested in a UBISOFT game ...I will absolutely wait to purchase it a YEAR after it releases or goes on sale with all of the SO-CALLED yearly passes and DLC´s.....maybe.![]()
I cannot think of 1 game now from Ubi that i would want to buy. They have ruined every series... GR, R6, FC and AC. Watchdogs, The Crew and The Division i had no interest in...at a push if they released a new Rayman id probably buy that.
As others have said GAAS is a scam so any GAAS will be a definite wide berth even if the gameplay was decent.
Your neighbour's garden would get mowed and all your windows broken... so let's not be too generous here.Originally Posted by Flanker1Six Go to original post
As gamers, we need to realize a simple and fundamental fact -- developers are under a LOT of pressure to produce games quickly for "management" and "shareholders" who want to release the game into the market quickly to generate revenue, often times BEFORE it is properly tested by quality-control, etc.
The ONLY way to stop this bad behavior is if we do NOT pre-order games under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. As gamers, we must WAIT to see how the game truly is, and with some developers like EA and Bethesda, that wait should be for 12-18 months minimum, for their developers to fix (if ever) the MANY bugs and gameplay mechanics that are not good.
We must share this approach with everyone, and change the culture of gaming. Interestingly, there is a strong economic incentive to do this too, which perplexes me why people do not do this more often. Naturally, if you buy a game 6-12 months later, it is almost always on sale, and ironically, you get a better game as a result !
As final point, do realize that Ubisoft has made a LOT of changes, which is actually quite rare and unprecedented in the publisher world. They really screwed up on Breakpoint, but their CEO gets it, and made a LOT of big changes, not least of which delaying their ENTIRE slate of games, and disbanding their "editorial committee" which governed these shoddy practices. I have faith that Ubisoft is trying to do the right thing, despite HUGE missteps in this game. It's perhaps a case study for students on how NOT to launch a game !
Please remember the key point of this debacle --- do NOT pre-order any game, ever.
Funny, that is exactly what I tell the police when they call asking me for a handout.Originally Posted by Flanker1Six Go to original post
I just hope that the majority that are saying they won't pre-order or buy stick to their guns, history has taught me that most of these people forget soon after.
If they insist on making all of their games open world rpgmmo/fantasy games, there is a simple formula here, if the game is launching in October, wait for Xmas sales and you'll save 40 to 60%. If it launches in March, summer time sales is just around the corner. No need to pre-order or be their guinea pig but of course, many of the casual have the spine of a gummy bear, which is actually good because you can always buy it pre-owned.Originally Posted by Axlerod1 Go to original post![]()
