Out of a discussion with a friend the other day is this question to you: Liberty or security? I understand that there is a spectrum where there is a mixture of both, but this question is very clear cut: Maximum liberty, where it's all up to you, or maximum security, where you will for sure be taken care of. For purposes of this question it is assumed that if you choose one, you reject the other.

There are multiple myths about who first said it, but, whoever it was, it is 100% true...

He who trades liberty for security neither receives, or deserves, either.

I like the one that goes (may even have heard it here )
"DEMOCRACY is like two wolves and a lamb having a vote on what's for dinner.
LIBERTY is the same but the lamb is packing a shotgun!"
Having said that Id be against relaxed gun laws and oppressive 'homeland security'.

No nation on earth, given the flawed nature of man, could long survive with complete liberty or complete security. Neither extreme is feasible. I voted for neither. I know parents who granted their children absolute liberty and they produced sociopaths incapable of understanding the needs of other human beings. I have seen the effect of complete security and it is utter complacency about danger in a hostile world.
