I have a better Idea (post your idea in this thread)
First of all, for those haters of this topic just leave this civil and respect our opinion and our way of discussing stuff.
New Zone: Outlaw Zone
What is its story, in this Area all factions come together to fight each other with 2 teams working together against 2 others, Hyenas, True Sons and Outcasts made a pact to work together and fighting the Black Tusk and SHD Agents who kicked them out of their city and want to get back in control, With a Special faction hunting only the SHD agents and those are The Ambusers lead by The Hunters
Whats in it:
NPC`s: only Elite and Named npc`s with Challenging and Heroic difficulty only, ALL landmarks have Heroics running it and normal on the streets they are at least Challenging difficult npc`s.
Different Contaminated Areas:
- Poisongas - non-lethal gas, reduces your health while walking in it but wont kill you but leaves you at 1 hp, (damage only Health not armor)
- Corrosive gas - non-lethal gas, reduces your armor while walking inside it until it is depleted. (wont damage Health at all only Armor)
- Teargas - non-lethal gas: same kind of gas as in Kenly College, when running through it you will get dazed by it when walking in it and the time dazed gets longer the longer you stay in it.
- DC-62 BETA - Lethal gas: even with your gasmask this version of DC62 will be lethal when walking inside it for too long and will reduce your health and armor while in it.
Checkpoint are Control Points: All checkpoints can be controled by all factions including SHD/JTF only 1 main entrance has automated turrets and all other exits can only be used if they are controlled by a friendly faction (in our case SHD/JTF), you can enter at any Checkpoint but cant Exit it unless your faction controls it but while entering the airlock you can see which factions contols which Checkpoints for that instance you just joined.
Also when defeating enemie factions Checkpoints all players within a certain range can loot that factions Strongbox which can contain different kind of Exotic and Named loot depending on which Faction controls it, for example Outcast has a slight change to drop the Pestilence LMG, while the Black Tusk has a slight chance to drop a Nemesis, Nemesis and other crafted Exotics can only be dropped after you crafted it first.
Loot Sharing: All loot found in this Area can be shared with all players who where within a certain radius of you when you looted that item and with all party members outside that radius but ofcourse it has a 1 hour timer on it like always.
This is just a start of an idea I have for a new PVE, Social zone where all players can enter without the need to team up.
Just discuss, give contructive feedback and be civil about it, No room for haters of a new PVE area
ps. If you vote No, please leave a comment why
For now, i voted "No".
First of all, I believe that any suggestion for new game content should begin with description of it's goals. Is it supposed to fix any flaws in current game design, whitch exactly? Or is it meant as addition of a new kind of gameplay into game space? Why do you believe it will be good for game and interesting for it's current auditory? Or is just "the more the merrier" expansion of already existing modes? Unfortunately, from your description, i could not learn about goals of adding such zone.
Just to make things clear - i am exculsively PvE player myself, and 100% positive about more PvE content. But so far your idea hardly offers something new - from what i read, it looks basically just like DZ, except no other players hunting you. Contaminated zones with different effects and controlled checkpoints sounds fine, but it is not clear how exactly these features can improve DZ gameplay.
I suggest you start with description of final result you want to achieve - how do you expect players to behave there, why it will be fun? Then we can review how each feature you offered fits final idea.
I think this game lacks a sort of social aspect of the game for PVE players besides the raid and lacks more challenging replayable PVE content.Originally Posted by Gelinger Go to original post
In my opinion it needs an area where we can just go in and meet other players and just have fun without the obligation of joining a group or to be forced into pvp, but it needs to be hard.
An area that brings more of a challenge and some old features from TD1 like the contaminated area in the old DZ which you couldnt get in without damaging yourself unless having a certain level of mask, I went a bit further and put in these contaminated areas with different effects, these areas can change and even landmarks can be inside these areas to make them even harder to do, combined with the Control points from the LZ to make it more alive and fun to play, but with the rush of also being hunted by the hunters and that they can strike at any time with their own faction (hunters being kinda like named bosses which have a small group of npc`s around him).
Contaminated areas can switch their "Gas" daily to make it interesting and not the same all the time.
I came up with this idea from different features from both TD1 and 2 and some features i like to see in this game, this game need new content and not just an new area with the same old mechanics as the game already has or just a few more missions, but a whole new concept of an area we can just go to and have fun playing together.
I hope at least I will give the devs some ideas at for future content
Thanks, now we have context for your suggestion. I support your idea in general, but with some rectifications.Originally Posted by Styxs_NL Go to original post
Most important - i dont like it being a separate, walled area. The smaller the location the faster players learn it its every secret, at witch point gameplay transitions from open world exploration into repetetive running through single, most efficient, route. I would rather see as many mechanics as possible being incorporated in already existing LZ, making it more diverse and giving fresh breath and uncertainty to already familiar streets.
Next - Social. It is never that easy as "having fun together". For example, it is fun when random agent can unexpectedly revive you and help to finish hard encounter. It is not fun, though, when said random agent can loot strongbox, while you are fighting all the guards, or when you walk empty streets for 15 minutes simply because another agent have already cleared everything in this district few minutes earlier. When allowing multiple players to interact with each other within singular game space, you must carefully review and design each possible form of interaction between them to make sure it is actually fun.
NPC`s can be effected by the gas, but we need to check how it goes, but first idea is yes.Originally Posted by Zankojima Go to original post
For the location, I was thinking to the north of the LZ there is a nice big entrance for it just north of District Union Arena as a main entrance, maybe the full range (from DZ West to East) or just 3/4 of it, but was thinking around the same size as TD1 DZ
Was thinking about when anyone opens a loot crate/cache within a certain radius of you, you get the drop aswell, same mechanics as group loot.Originally Posted by Gelinger Go to original post
With clearing out cache and crates, might use less crates but a little bit higher drop chance from npc`s, they might drop enough anyway because all are elites and up,
Caches can be done the same as the Crontrolpoint caches (every checkpoint already have one of these anyway), everyone can open them once a day for example or once every few hours (8-12).
We might put in some Airdrops like in TD1 with spawned NPC`s around it or maybe an elite airdrop that spawns in hunters around it with chance on better loot.
But for size, i was thinking for sure the size of TD1 DZ (first version, the one just in the middle of NY without the northern part which came later)
Yep, this is essentially what is in the back of my mind every time someone mentions "social activity".Originally Posted by Gelinger Go to original post
I love my own game experience, if I choose to have a party I do so of my own volition, so I would very much prefer the option to find a PUG and susequently leave it rather than being force into "social activities".
That is why the part about the improvement of the LZ makes much more sense to me: the LZ already has this, what's missing is the challenge, so let us just decide on the difficulty of the LZ just like we could do in TD1.
This way there's not even any need for a PvE DZ.
