Just some thoughts and discussion on the Best Scottish man...
First of all, I totally agree on nerfing the OS cancel option select as it was an extremely unhealthy tool and gave him a massive unfair advantage defensively. You should never keep an unhealthy mechanic due to the owner character suffering in some aspects of his kit (BTW utterly ridiculous safe heavies should go next for Glad, Musha and Conq). Yet I just can't get over the fact that they gave him nothing in return!
Seriously, Conq is still a monster even after this nerf and Shinobi is still a stalling undisputed king with his insane mobility and overtuned damage numbers. On the other hand, what dose HL have?! Suffer to get out of DS and throw UBs while hopeing for the best?! I think every one nows by now how to avoid his openers safely and he still suffer from an extremely polarized match ups. OK, Stefan claimed that they fixed the guard pop up during OS stance and I am not sure if it is an implication on the OS kick out bug or not but we shall see and test that in a few days. Yet that is not enough!
Please don't treat him like another Nobushi. The character needs help.
What worries me about his option select "fix" is how it affects canceling out of OS all together. I'm legit worried they have made it where whenever you see a HL enter OF stance he has this massive 1500ms free GB window or something crazy like that... like if a HL superior blocks you and quick enters OF you can just get a free GB even after your recovery from the hit. All speculation but man, I'm worried about the "butterfly effect" that branches off of this "fix", because none of it can be good.
He needs 500ms DF lights. There is literally no place in this game for 600ms lights, it's a damn easy and free light parry. You literally are an idiot to use DF lights outside of superior block or backstep light whiffing. It's even a balanced nerf/buff in the change itself because it makes his DF lights better to use, and shrinks his superior block timing window at the same time.
He needs to be able to cancel out of OF kick to deal with rolls or dodge attacks on prediction.
His Celtic Curse needs more forward momentum tracking to deal with rolls. They buffed a half dozen heroes forward tracking to deal with rolls, and yet Highlander is hands down the hero who is affected most by them, because as we all know you can negate HL's entire OF kit with one roll.
With OF kick being able to be hard canceled, and a buff to Celtic Curse forward tracking momentum, a HL has the tools to deal with these polarizing OF kit mixup counters that completely win against him with no risk on the opponents end. The highlander option select was OP, but so is "I can roll or dodge attack no matter what when I see orange against a Highlander and that option wins."
That is one of the best summaries that I have seen to his situation. The idea that you can avoid a mix-up 100% safely is a massive flaw in game design and I am pretty surprised that it still exists while we are announcing a year "4"!Originally Posted by FuncK_D Go to original post
