Recently, whenever I launch watch dogs 2 from uplay it keeps redirecting me to steam's watch dogs 2 store page because it assumes I own the steam version. Now I think I know why: I originally bought the game on steam but I realized that Green Man Gaming was having a better sale so I refunded it and bought it on green man gaming instead so I no longer own the steam version, but a direct uplay key. I installed the uplay version of the game and played it for a while without any trouble what so ever. According to uplay I've logged 22 hrs and I'm 49% through the game progression so yeah this most definitely wasn't a problem before. I launched and played the game just fine. Then I got bored and didn't play it for a while but I never uninstalled it. Now with watch dogs legion announced I thought I finish watch dogs 2 and this problem arises. I think some how uplay thinks I'm playing on a steam version of the game and I don't have the slightest clue what to do.
Hey BlitzProject,
I have checked the account and can see that your account did indeed at one time have the Steam version of Watch_Dogs 2.
To help us sort this out with you, can you create a ticket on our website and include a screenshot from this folder on your PC:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\cache\ownership
Thanks!
I got the WatchDogs 2 free on my pc by watching Ubisoft Forward and the game was added to my Uplay library but, whenever i try to play the game, it just redirects me to the watchdogs 2 store page of Steam. I got the game added to my library way before the site crashed during the event. I can see the game in my installed games but can't play it.
