My frustration has reached the Breakpoint

Today after extended time away from the game due to business travel, I got home and fired up my dedicated PC (used for nothing other than playing Breakpoint and Wildlands) - it’s 4 months old, high end, and a clean system... in case you’re wondering after reading the rest.

Frustration #1... Can’t update. Updated Windows, Nvidia Drivers, Uplay and then proceeded to download the Breakpoint update. No go. It would just sit there at 0B/s. I Googled... Someone suggested using a VPN. Downloaded OpenVPN and started up a connection. It immediately started to work. FFS Ubisoft. Downloaded both BP and Wildlands updates.

Frustration #2... Can’t start the game. Splash screen shows. Then nothing. Repeat. Google. Someone suggests the latest Windows update might be the issue. Roll back. No change. Google again. Someone suggests uninstalling and re-installing Uplay. That works. Game Starts.

Frustration #3... All my settings are whacked. Graphics settings and HUD settings are all crazy. Try to reset them. Can’t turn off loot flag indicators for the longest time. Finally switch all HUD settings to default and start from scratch. That worked mostly. Now I still have small white flags sticking out of the ground for some but not all enemy drops.

Frustration #4... Strange Bugs. Get in the truck at Erewhon to drive to the first mission. Can’t change the camera to free look while driving... it’s locked directly forward... moving the mouse has no effect. I figure this is some setting. Can’t find anything. Get out of the vehicle. Mouse works. Try to get back in the vehicle. No prompt appears. Cannot re-enter the vehicle. Try others. All the same. I can only enter vehicles once. Have no mouse look control, and if I exit, cannot re-enter. Quit to desktop. Restart game.

It took me about 2 hours to get the game back to a working state. Ubisoft, you suck. You should be embarrassed by your shoddy workmanship.

Frustration #5... Issues Not Fixed. Get into the game. Start driving. Still detected as often as before. Get out. Engage Sentinel. Shoot several in the head. As they are dying they all yell or grunt. One guy yelled out “We’re under attack” after getting shot in the face. Headshots still not fixed. Coughing in Erewhon still not fixed. Problems with MK17 assault still not fixed.

It’s really really hard to believe the studio could be this bad. If someone told me this, I wouldn’t believe it. I can’t even believe it after experiencing it.

Frustration #6... More Bullet Sponge Enemies. I engage a Terminator. Anyone who thinks these are difficult doesn’t know what cover is. These things are a joke. The flying Murmur drones are way more deadly if they get on your ***. These Terminators are just dumb slow moving bullet sponge walking automatons. A few dozen bursts from the Stoner and a couple mags from the magic gun and they are down. Run ahead or around, turn shoot, repeat. What a waste of dev resources building yet more bullet sponges into this game. “Bravo!” d1ck heads!.

Quit to desktop. Had a glass of wine. Good California Cab.

Started Wildlands. New Ghost Mode playthrough underway. Back where I belong. F#ck you Ubisoft!

Ahh I knew I liked you! I open a bottle of Justin Isoceles. Bordeaux style but better then the French stuff I can afford. Mellow out a bit, then fire up the game. I'm still staring at the ridiculous belt some poor sod who apparently had nothing better to do and decided "hey this looks so good I'll make the player HAVE to wear it all the time". So much for me doing little tales with screenshots, the belt just grates. And yet if you buy the Kyle character he isn't wearing the belt.

Whoever the person is who decided to change that line of code - go get a f**kin job flipping burgers, it's all you seem to be good for. With so much that needed to be fixed you really gonna waste time doing that?

I also had issues downloading the update for Wildlands. It seemed like it would only download if i kept the UPlay window open.

The best part at the moment, regarding all the mess not only with the patch but also the whole game itself, is that they only came up with this ridiculous compensation of utterly useless skell credits and those pitiful giveaway of 200 Ghost Credits as well. It almost feels like the nobles threw their pesky begging peasants a coin into their bowl.

You know what the secret is to less stress while gaming?

Don't preorder, don't day 1 purchase, when you do finally buy X game, take it slow, don't rush through. To reduce the rage when playing iffy & buggy games, i only play for short amounts of time, 30 mins usually, sometimes less. I've been doing this on wildlands and breakpoint, it's how i keep playing games i want to play (despite the flaws). If i play too long, i can get annoyed and then uninstall.

I purchased wildlands a year and a bit after launch, played around 50 something hours and only 23 missions complete, haven't even unlocked tier mode yet. For breakpoint i shopped around for it cheaper post launch, played so far around 30 something hours, played a few missions, barely scratched the surface, gear level not even 30 yet.

In the near future, we only have hope for ''Zero Six-Behind Enemy Lines'', but as far as I understand there will be no open world, which means that we can only play in the Wild Lands.

I see it's being developed on UE4, i hope it's optimised unlike fallen order..many modern UE games on pc suffer with horrible stuttering.

Pretty much this. Happiest game purchase I've ever made was Witcher 3 for $15 on GOG's Chinese new year sale.

With all the DLC(which were included in that $15 purchase price), the NG+ and the world of user built mods... It's a breath of fresh air. Oh yeah, and I can play it offline.

I've got over 100hrs in of mostly main story(with a few side quests for coin, xp, fun or all of the above) and I'm not a third of the way through the story yet.

I dont see myself coming back to a Ubisoft title for quite some time.

Moral of the story, I bought WL two months after launch at a discount and was happy with it.

Bought W3 years after launch and at an insane discount and have been happy with it.

BP- Preordered and it has been nothing but frustration.

No more preorders in my future, especially from Ubisoft.

Listen — for me, I’m so glad I didn’t buy Breakpoint.

I’m learning these days. Restraint during the initial excitement when the game gets released, see how things go, listen to the feedback, be patient. More often than not it seriously pays off.

It’s also worth noting that the games sales these days especially on PlayStation are just crazy, it only takes a few months for games to go down 30-40%...

I have not bought a full price game in quite a long time.

I intend to buy Zombie Army 4: dead war full price £39.99 — only to show support to one of my favourite devs Rebellion. .
I don’t mind supporting smaller AA developers and indie Devs.
But in all honesty, I don’t think I’m going to be buying any triple a games full price from any big developers/publishers. More often than not they turn out to be hugely disappointing, and also take huge liberties with the quality that the game launches in.

I mean just look at Rebellion, an old school developer.
Look at the quality and polish on their Sniper Elite 4. Packed with content and the game is super polished from day one. I mean when they launched that game that game was done and done, completely finished.

Bought W3 recently too. What a game! Nearly 5 years old and the quality is outstanding.
