Your entire begining of the year package here, was lackluster and horrible...sorry

    THE NEW ARMORS:
The new armors are really bad. They are all rehashes of old gear. Very obvious.
    There is NOTHING exciting.
The fact that you developers didn't release ANYTHING for your early years heroes... man THE YARE THE ONES WHO NEED IT! Their armors are old hat!
You don't just show some love to the game... SHOW IT TO YOUR ENTIRE CAST, OR SHOW IT IN PHASES.... but do it to every hero! If you can't release armors for every hero at once, then release half in January and half in June.
This was insanely boring, and for myself and others, very aggravating as we had been looking forward to what was HOPEFULLY going to be some brand new looks for people who play heroes that need it. Like my damn Aramusha main; who constantly looks like hes walking to get his morning paper in his pajamas, or just woke up in a gutter drunk...

    THE EXECUTIONS:
    OMG where to start.
    One word. BAD!
-The Jormungundr executions DOESNT EVEN LOOK RIGHT!!!!
ITS INSANELY out of character for the hero, his lore has NO type of super strength feat... so he shouldn't be even able to do it... and the animation is SO BAD that the weapon is NOT EVEN STICKING IN HIS HEAD PROPERLY!!! The hammer, on LEVEL group, in the menu selection to buy it, SHOWS THE WEAPON jolting around in his skull unrealistically bad, and then as the hero goes to pop it out of the enemy's head, the hammer isn't even in his skull anymore.... hahaha
-The Shaman execution is a clear ripoff of the Aramushas head over heals execution.
-The Berserker... he SLOWLY cuts off the arm his opponent... not only is the cut unrealistically clean, but there is literally NOT ONE DROP OF BLOOD from an arm that has just been severed off above the elbow?! HA!
-Why is the Shukogi jumping up and sitting on someone's head to kill them, WHEN THERE ARE AMAZING WAYS HE COULD USE THAT GIANT WEAPON TO KILL!!!! That is ATROCIOUS childlike humor with NO basis in a game about killing people! I was less impressed with that than I was the stupid Jormungndr making a hammer head dummy, Unbelievably bad!

Look, I don't know if you just half assed executions to up your sales on the year pass; or what...
Maybe you have first month interns developing executions now to save money....
I don't know what you kids are doing there, and I mean kids, cuz well, you are running this show like a bunch of amateurs at this point. But the quality of what you are putting out is scarily bad lately, and THIS months release shows that you are either toning down the game to stop development, or purposefully halving your efforts.

    BALANCE
    Some of it... meh
    Most of it... WHY?
There are SO many points... but heres a few heads up that if you developers were paying attention to THE MASSES, and not just your elite few you talk to; that you would understand.

-The PK needs a buff to damage, and a rework on her kit. BADLY.
-The Aramusha DESPERATELY needs a better dodge so he can escape some of the issues you have created with these heroes the past year.
-You needed to reduce hyperarmor on heroes, SPECIFICALLY TANKS from this past year. You chose to release 3 heroes this year that do not actually use tank fighting styles, they simply use vanguard and hybrid attacks with hyperarmor to push their way into your face in a nonstrategic way. Its embarrassing how bad this was.
-You needed to RELABEL the Hitokrir, Jormungndr, as Vanguards or Hybrids. They are NOT heavies. And I may have a video coming out soon on youtube that explains that if I can get a break from life stuff.
-You gave Tiandi a Buff? WHY AT ALL? What were you afraid of? He did NOT need the ability to tiger dodge more and do more moves from it! That's half his issue!

Lastly on this topic of balance: Get someone else to start doing it if you cant see basic functional problems in your game. For instance: EVERY SINGLE HERO WITH A DEFLECT(dodge into strike) mechanic is screwed right now by any of your cast of heroes that have heavy or light in to follow up mechanics. I play orochi, I play nuxia, I play valk, I play Pk.. all of whom I literally CANNOT afford to use skill playing against most of your heroes because instead of relying on skilled play styles, you made heroes into hyperarmor, instant followup, machines.
The mechanics favor tanks and hybrids over assassins, and have wrecked assassin reflex gameplay. You need to focus on fixing how these two dynamics interact. And fast.\

    GAMEPLAY
I and others are very unimpressed by your year long idea of balance. Because you have a severe history of NOT balancing properly.
I have a post I will resurrect for this. But my JOB is in linear regression, hypothesis testing of data populations, and in correction of business practices utilizing quantitative data to imply qualitative decision making...
And I will tell you this: You guys using outliers, your top 5 percent of players, to make balance decisions... is wrong. Your general population numbers are where you need to focus your balance; and the pro level 2 percent, can simply fight it out amongst themselves for the high spot. That's how that works.
But to balance at that top 5 percent level... well... is bad business. If that's the case, then give everyone in your game in the bottom 95 percent free everything for the year, and let ONLY the top five percent purchase things... and see how much money you make then.
And that is just a logical point.
I could and may very well go into a LONG LONG post on why and how this works scientifically, at some point. Just as I did about two years ago now I think.
But, whomever is running this show now, needs to change up how they do things. Either that or bring me in and let me set up shop to balance appropriately... Because whomever is doing this now, is using shortcuts, and doing a horrid job of it.

As far as your "tournament" and "pro scene". Well, bit late for that. You had a HORRIBLE launch after you guys didn't listen to us about p2p for a YEAR before release, and then A YEAR after release. Then you spent YEARS not fixing heroes who were very obviously exploitable (centurion) (Shaman) (pretty much anything that horrible dev Roman used to get on screen and laugh at us about)
ALMOST ANYONE who would have been a solid supporter, and pro left in the first 2 years because you couldn't maintain your game and wouldn't LISTEN TO YOUR MASSES!
Then you end up with "pro" players, who use exploits to win your own tournaments and get embarrassed off YOUR OWN PRO SCENE!!!
You have spent 3 years NOT supporting the tournament scene beyond giving it 30 seconds on your videos, and now you want to act like its happening?!
YEAH RIGHT! Do you guys ALSO HAVE INTERNS RUNNING YOUR MARKETING!? Cuz that's what they might do!
Pro scenes take YEARS to develop properly. They take a LARGE POOL OF PLAYERS to draw from to get the best of the game. They take actual PRIZES! Not thirty dollars for the win, or a Starbucks gift card, which is literally what most of your tournaments are offering at their T1 prize level!
Unless you are about to follow in the steps of something like DOTA2, and implement an INGAME mechanic to set up tournaments, and then hosting one from YOURSIDE like every Saturday at 5pm, which randomly takes a teams rating and applys it to other teams, and automatically sets up the brakcets and starts the show... Then you don't have what it takes to create a "pro scene" any longer in this game.
HAVE YOU GONE ON YOUR OWN GAME AT NIGHT? Do you play it? Have you noticed that literally only Dominion gets a queue quickly. That tribute, deathmatch, brawl, and even your precious Breach are DEAD AS HELL!
You guys are not being realistic about how you are running this division and how you are balancing, and where you are putting your efforts. If you want a pro scene, there is a way to do it. It doesn't just magically appear.

And NOW, you say that you are going to promote this game? How? With what audience? This game just received a half assed release package for this year already! There is almost NO good reviews about this game from the armor and execution release. You couldn't even give a lot of your heroes armor... so how are we to believe that you are going to actually put any kind of effort into a pro scene and tournament scene when we cant even get executions that don't look funny, or are literally mechanically broken!?

I realize this is not a good post, but it has to be said. I have been here since your FIRST CLOSED BETA.
And well, I am straight up giving you guys a D for your quality starting this year. I hope its not a trend for the year.

    THE NEW ARMORS:
Disappointed as well. For me, new styles is .. say something completely different. Say Kensei cross Nobushi (for Kensei in this case) where Kensei now has .. say some kinda lighter Training gear? Or Kensei vs Aramusha - Kensei in Traveling gear. That would really change the mood, and I guess that's what people are after: new facets of their favorite heroes.

    THE EXECUTIONS:
Did not check if all work correctly, if some don't, that's bad. Overall though I think animation quality seems fine.

    BALANCE
Overall I like it. Overnerf of Punch through though.
You complain about valid concerns, but there is a lot more. See, for me, my straw to really come back was Zhanhu. Finally a new hero who's style I liked and that, as a new hero, likely was not underpowered. Sadly I was very wrong. Orochi? My poor team mates. Aramusha? Oh come on, he can be fun for a game or two, but that's it. Nobushi? Hmm, actually kinda viable, but she still plays too "stiff" for my taste and gets parried like Zhanhu. Monk? Low damage Hybrid with Assassin guard :/ Tiandi? Well, got somewhat better now, maybe I try him again soon. Could state a few others, but overall, from a balance perspective, I always liked the lower tier heroes more. Not because they were low tier, but from a general gameplay and style perspective. But depending on what patch we were on, the experience ranged from decent to utterly painful.
So .. I kinda hope I get hooked on my favorite brawler with the start of the next season again. But I still do doubt it a little.

Finally, concerning .. OP's professional opinion: Well, to everyone his own. But my philosophy is more simple: I simply have to enjoy the game. Matchmaking will take care of imbalances, as long as I do not feel a certain power gap. However, here is where For Honor actually goes wrong. Zhanhu vs Lawbringer, right now, is an example for a extreme power gap. And we got more of this.
However, this is NOT a result of balancing for a top percentage. This is just failing at balancing in general.

My current opinion/suggestion for a more balanced game?
The devs seemed to have used their brains and / or math to conclude that all characters should have equally fast starters (I think Highlander is still an Exception though). Now when they would start using math to realize that a few numbers still do not add up (damage / health) and maybe the game would be even more fun if a few heroes are not knocked out after being hit by 3 heavies (or being light parried 3 times), this would go a long way. They kinda realized with Hitokiri that high heavy damage is rather dangerous. But we do have a lot of outliers still.
Take Lawbringer who people say is dead now: I actually believe he will still fight for the top 3 of the strongest heroes in the game.
And finally: Why is it that like for almost a year (at least feels this way) it is only knight heroes fighting for the top spots? >_<

So yea, I think balance, overall is still improving. But personally, I .. deem it bad still.

What i can agree with :
-New armors : so much time for a so bad work is extremely disapointing.
-Y4 announcment : nothing exciting. Just feel like an empty story lacking inspiration.
-Executions : some are nice, but the animation is awfull for many of them (awfull animation is not something new in FH btw).
-Balancing : some changes are very good as charged option select one for example but its true this patch is lacking and is a more about a few adjustments than a real balancing job.
The fact we still dont know anything about next heroes going into their TG, what they plan to do for heroes desesperatly waiting their deserved love or about Cent rework is also very frustrating. As always, very bad Ubi communication.

    What i disagree with :
-Balancing : balancing the game arround full pop would be a bad decision.

But overall, you are right to say that this Y4 reveal was really, really bad.

I think the vast majority of armor sets were pretty good. There is a limit to how much they can vary the armors too, since these are realistic looks (well most of them) not World of Warcraft armor.

    Most executions were also good.

My man, realistic looking armors? Most of them?

Nah fam, that ain't gonna slide. Have you seen the new viking armors that were added with the Wu Lin update? The majority got hobo gear. Or did you see Jorm's gear, bare footed?

Nah nah, realistic is the last word that comes to mind regarding FH armor haha. They can go wild at this point if they like
