Whenever we are trying to make our way stealthily through the wilderness, I've noticed driving patrols only react if you are in their vision at 12 O'clock, they have no cone of view, even if they're stacked with a squad of 5 men... We play without HUD so we act as if we have to cross carefully, but you can go prone on the side of the road, and they will simply pass by in complete bliss of your presence, even if they drive over 7 of their dead brothers... They in fact drive on top of the bodies, and never dismount to check suspicious activity.
This would greatly help the realism, if each extra passenger in the cars watched a different sector, so they'd have up to a 360° FOV if the gunner were to move around and check his surroundings.
Just something I've noticed as a difficulty/realism junkie.
A great example how lazy the AI is programmed. How little effort was made to give us Players some sort of realistic, immersive feel of being hunted. I hate the fact they didn´t develop some sort of awareness regarding the Patrols behaviour. Yes you get a "body detected" message, but instead of stopping, searching the area, investigating the bodies of their fellow Comrades or calling reinforcement, they just drive by and have a good time...Originally Posted by Detroit_Ninja Go to original post
This Game AI is so lazy developed it makes me sad. It´s stunning how little effort they put into this.
The AI detection is definitely wonky. Trucks can pass by while I'm crouched on the side of the road and 50/50 chance they'll see me, but a helicopter flies over, I'm wearing camo blended in with the terrain, not moving, and they see me. Then a guy can run right past me and not see me, but a guy 50m away can see me with his peripheral view.
