Same thing happens with me; FT to Hodgson BV and crash almost instantly. But, I can FT to Royal Ridge, clear the valley, cross the saddle and assault the Sentinel Camp without crashing at all. Then, all in same session, steal the camp's chopper, fly to Hodgson, get out and climb to top of Hogdson Peak. I could never do that previously. The game operates with VRAM memory well above 7.1GB, I have to wonder if it over-commits or leaks memory in FT's and crashes the video drivers.

Suggest you read my post, I tried that, also installed game again, verified files and did a clean OS install

Games running fine since patch.

Before that it almost wrecked my PC with the nastiest crashes i encountered in 10 years.
Now i can do the main mission in the snowy mountain region, that Ai eye thing.

I tried the game because of the event (and tried the event because I'm a completionist). At first won't lauch, uplay uninstall, restart, resintall and it launched. For me it seems the altitude bug fixed (after two months, great), tried to ascend with a heli and also foot. And I played but... I didn't enjoyed well. I think we had to wait too long... (and the fact to not work for you, it's horrible).
While I was wait to the pacth I played Wtach Dogs 2, wich worked and I enjoyed! Also played the Wildlands and that worked! And I enjoyed too! Maybe because that's worked.
So altitude bug - mostly - gone, but there is still many bugs, for example you can't aim with the helicopters, several bugs in pvp, raid, night vision, footsteps sound, etc.

I forgot to mention i cleared the Documents\My Games\Ghost Recon Breakpoint\PersistentStorage\ directory. But John said he tried a clean install and the bug still there, so these tricks do not work to everybody.
This game is big... no, a large mess, a catastrophe. We just waited months without a word, and even this long-waited patch don't work to everybody. We couldn't pla for months, but as I see they do not want to offer anything. I don't expect that but I never again will buy a just released game. They would communicate at least.

Maybe this worth a try:
"C_W_T_AUT
for me
removal of all *.cache files from C:\Users\<USER>\Documents\My Games\Ghost Recon Breakpoint\PersistentStorage
and
removal of all files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\cache
does the trick --> game now start again and currently no crashes (~3H playtime) "

Just to confirm what have been mentioned elsewhere before, I'm on a GTX 1070 and I have been crashing with the altitude bug since 1.0.3 and apparently still do. WAKE UP UBISOFT!!!
