    The original?

I don't know why that one won't load. Works fine on my XP. No one plays it online anymore, though.

You don't need it to play PF and FB. Whole different install.

1946 is the best way to go, as it has everything on one dvd. It's only $20 now.

You can just install as a standalone, and patch it up. Just make sure you get the standalone patches, and not the merged patches.

    example: 4.04 not 4.04m

Do yourself a favor and go out and get a copy of IL2:1946.
This contains all IL2 original content, FB and Pacific Fighters, plus all expansions and patches up to ver 4.07 on ONE DVD.
Then you only need to download one patch, ver 4.08 and you will have the whole series fully up to date.
Then wait a while for BOB: Storm of War, which I am confidently going to say will be released some time in 2008!!
Others will surely disagree with my prediction of the release date, but I am not going to entertain them as it is pure speculation.
It will be released when it is done. Period.
Meanwhile, enjoy 1946, it has loads to offer, and no real competition at the moment.

You should definitely check out 1946. It's Forgotten Battles, the Aces Expansion, Pacific Fighters, and all three of the downloadable expansions rolled up into one install. All you'll need is the 4.08 patch, maybe. Definitely worth it - Less disks, and it should cost about $20 bucks now, I think. And there's no need to go out and hunt for all the expansions you'll need.

Its vaporware as far as I'm concerned...I have seen NOTHING that makes me believe in any way that BoB:SOW will ever make the shelves.

The longer this non-communicado state, reference UBI and BoB SoW continues, the more I am convinced it is slowly slipping off the radar, and soon all mention of it will be quietly forgotten about, by all except the most die hard fanatics....I really am starting to think we will never see it.

Sorry, Fluffy, but have you actually read some of the other posts on these forums - from people who are actually working on SOW?
You realise how ridiculous you're gonna look when SOW hits the shelves?
In this f+#$d up world we live in at the moment, the least we can do is to TRY and be positive...
A case of seeing the glass half empty, IMHO,
but you're entitled to see it your way.
As long as you're prepared to apologise when, not if, WHEN SOW is released, thats fine, but your statements are so wrong, dude!!
I will happily eat humble pie if SOW doesn't happen, are you prepared to do the same WHEN it happens?
