    Wildlands. Hate it.

I bought it, I'll finish it and never play it again. Such ********. I love the graphics and the guns, etc. but the gameplay is inconsistent, the save intervals are infuriating and too many missions are near impossible to accomplish without repeating many times. And how about that predator? The story line is conceivable, a piece of **** country full of corruption and governmental ineptitude (think Mexico) that evolves into a "narco state".... and then there is a creature from outer space that shows up. Figures. This game's writers/designers are from outer space. Too much frustration and too many hours of my life spent on this ********. And then there are the load times....

Story and characters are fine as long as you know what inspired it in the first place. A lot of time, effort and resources went into making stuff that was meant to make soldiers literally invisible. Predator was the first attempt at this, a reference from pop(ular) culture. My only problem with Predator is that he it's the most powerful boss in the game and makes all others look bad in comparison. Silent spade mission was a much better fit for Wildlands and linked it with Future Soldier.

Stealth requires a great deal of practice, but reward is certainly there. You just need a better plan and more patience. Some cosmetic items don't fit, but still have value for role playing. The game was built to be immersive with a lot of freedom when it comes to mission approach, which has it's pros and cons. As for the long load times, it's an open world game, so that's pretty much expected. Auto-save happens too often, no argument there. Nothing in the game (except for optional daily challenges) forces players into playing on difficulty level or restrictions they aren't comfortable with. Tier 1 is optional and you can always just replay easy missions for quick and easy points or turn it off if it became annoying.

It is indeed a Love and Hate relationship. If you just got it towards the end it is now a big infested game. Orkin needs to be called in to spray it. Now you have to expect the unexpected in this game. I have watched it slowly go downhill over the few years that I have played it.

Things that should have been fixed have been swept under the rug. Things that didn't need to be added was added and made everything a bigger mess. As 90% of the bugs in the game at first release are still there. But we now have Mercenaries that has been broken for as long as it has been released.

I have 4 more items to get out of loot crates. I will then leave this game. I'm not sure why they decided to add all those emotes and voice lines. I think it was two people that wanted it. They left and never helped the community. I wonder how they feel now? Maybe that is why we are getting punished all this long of a time?

Sometimes you just have to take a break and go relax a bit and come back. In Tier 1 Extreme it will also have that "when the crap hits the fan" moment. It is just a matter of when it is going to do it. And our wonderful AI team that can't fall out a boat and hit water.

But what do I know. It is what it is.

The predator thing is more of an easter egg and shouldn't be taken as part of the main storyline.

Mind you, in the movies, it's said that the Predators are attracted to hot regions where there is conflict - and the conversion of a equatorial country into a narco-state certainly fits that bill. Mind you, it's not the worst plotline that a ghost recon game has had - didn't Future Soldier have what was essentially werewolves...?

No, Future Soldier didn't have any werewolves in it.

The game isn't for everyone for sure, some people liked the big open world maps, the explorations, the vehicles, the customization for immersion, etc, etc, I am a bit more picky and wished they would have spend some time on the gameplay, ai and enemy teammates but that wasn't their main focus and it shows. Being said that, you need more time than any other shooter to acclimate yourself with the character movements and weapons.

I normally start a new game on Normal (not the easiest level of difficulty but not the hardcore either), this way you can attempt to do certain things while learning because again, the learning curve is a bit steep. I recommend you start in easy/normal, DO NOT attempt to do the 1st Convoy Mission yet, leave it for much much later when you have level up a bit, use the full Hud and then little by little you start to disable things. Check to see what Sniper rifle/Assault Rifle you would want to have and were is it and get it from the appropriate province by getting the intel right away then go back to the 1 skull province. Same goes for the Optics, this way, you will feel at least that you are shooting with your preferred weapon.

The forum seems deserted at the moment but if you stick with it, there are members here that will get you all the help you need to attack whatever mission or side mission you need help with. Venom, Killer_K, MikeWeeks come to mind that are still holding the forth.

You already paid for it, might as well enjoy it for the game that it is.
