I know the devs don't necessarily want light spam but i don't see how they plan to prevent it by giving characters chains that consist entirely of three or four light attacks. I am all for big combos but if you use a light two times in a row it should stop your chain dead in its tracks. You should only be able to chain multiple heavies or a mixture of heavies and lights.
I think this could lower the stress on newcomers and people who like to game with their brains off sometimes. At the same time i don't believe that it would ruin higher level play.
Chains in general need to be improved in FH by giving actual mixups with soft feint options to more characters. Removing light chains isn't going to improve the game. Giving characters actually useable chains at all levels is what should be the focus.
Light chains aren't that big of a deal provided they aren't 400ms followed by another 400ms and only Nuxia has that. Orochi has 466ms, same with Glad. It's a skill gate that players eventually move past if they play often enough. You learn to block and/or to apply reads, it's honestly not much to ask of someone who chooses to play a fighting game. Requesting the removal of all light chains strikes me as like asking for fights in Sekiro or Darksouls to be made easier so you can do some no brain gaming. That's the type of game that you decided to buy, you know. There's plenty of games for switch your brain off gaming and chill, a PvP fighting game just isn't one of them. And there is actually an option for no brain gaming in FH, it's PvAI.
I don't think this is something that's being considered. Maybe approaching heroes with lights you find problematic would be more practical than getting rid of all 3-light chains and altering the offense of a bunch of heroes.
Are people really crying out for a nerf to Kensei's 3-light chain, for example? It would be news to me.
UbiInsulin merely informed you that light chains are not considered an issue by the devs and then suggested that you perhaps name the heroes you think have problematic lights instead of referring to all light chains in the entire game. He gave an example of Kensei as a character that has a triple light chain but it's not problematic.Originally Posted by CanadianSoupMan Go to original post
I'm confused as to how you could read any of that as "get good"? If he missed the point then maybe you need to explain your issue better. You never mentioned anything about making better chains in your opening post for example. You shouldn't expect people to read your mind in order to understand your point.
I said in my initial post I like combos and such. The only parameter was 2 lights in a row equals chain end. It doesn’t close me off to anything. You built off of my post with talking about better combos. This is a thread of continuous information.Originally Posted by Vakris_One Go to original post
Sure kensei is not much of a problem but nuxia, peacekeeper, orochi, etc; all have some HEAVY dependencies on lights. Even raider can have a dirty light spam due to how awful his animations are.
While X amount of the community is fine against light spam when they have their head in the game, Z amount of players will struggle hard no matter what they do so the point isn’t just irrelevant.
The point I was trying to make was that you could implement ‘2light = no more chain’ and still not break the game while at the same time would encourage more big brain plays to get the kill, especially at the lower/mid tier.
Of course half of this games combos would have to be changed with minor character reworks. But in my mind part of making good chains would be not having lazy light chains.
2 lights to a heavy would also be okay in this context as well. Light, light, heavy, light, light, etc...
I can agree that having nothing but light chains is lazy design and boring. I'd like to see more characters have actual mind games and mixups instead of having nothing but light chains like PK and Orochi. Nuxia has an interesting trap mechanic but it needs more work done to it to be made into a better mixup tool. Zhanhu potentially has an interesting interplay game between his lights and heavies but that potential can only be realized if the devs make the startup animations of his lights and heavies similar looking so that they can be better used as a mind game.Originally Posted by CanadianSoupMan Go to original post
One of my main concerns is that you'd have to rebalance damage for all the new Light-Light chains. Otherwise Nuxia's (for example) getting a 13-13 chain, in which the opener is a humble 500ms. Jiang Jun is currently working with an 18-18 two light chain, for comparison.Originally Posted by CanadianSoupMan Go to original post
So getting rid of all 3 light chains seems more complicated to me than just looking at individual heroes that feel like they can get away with spamming.
