Freed rebels at the FOB in Itacua pickup G36Cs, not AK-47s

Now at Oroco Delta it's a Santa Blanca SUV which spawns (regardless of character), not a generic civilian vehicle.

Notice they are holding a pistol and a M4A1. And drop what we see slung, SMG-11/PP19. The other weapons disappear. A first for me AFAIK.

Noticed the same thing about freed rebels picking up G36c from ammo crates in FOB Armadillo and other combat outposts. I laughed hard, until a closer inspection revealed it's a G36c variant with folded stock, just like in your screenshot. That is definitely recent.
SB SUV also frequently, but not always, appears on rebel spawn just outside Libertad city instead of pickup or minivan. It could be just RNG though.

Default soldier preset has been bugged for long time, all factions. Even ghosts are known to revert to their P416/MP5 because something went awry or because ... reasons Ubi put various safeguards in place to prevent further misbehavior, including improper destruction of objects, which we all know is very dangerous if not done right. Unidad also drops M4A1 instead of their R5 RGP. That explains M4A1. For G36c it's a bit more complex and involves RNG, since some rebels pick up AK's and other 6P41's. Does the character this happened on have unlocked all skills related to freed rebels, tier 1 on/off? I noticed freed rebels picking up only 6P41's on my ghost mode character (tier enabled), poor opposition

I originally only noticed the G36C at FOB Armadillo because I happen to pass over it following a mission awhile back. Thought, "now's that strange>" So thought I'd look into it a bit further. Haven't yet noticed it happening at other locations, but will keep an eye out now. Perhaps just to determine how often; just free them for that purpose. I normally don't free them unless there's a reason for that game session. For FOB Armadillo that resulted in the image, two times, both with a Tier character - one has all skills enabled, the other has 3 of 4 free rebels skills plus bonus.

Have yet to get a SBC SUV at Libertad City spawning point. That's interesting. That Unidad can drop a M4A1 is also interesting in that it's basically opposite of what the image represents; holding a weapon that isn't colored as cartel (but one they use) - which leads one to believe it's indeed a glitch. If I notice it again I'll try an engagement and see if it simply disappears and the normal weapon is used.

Here's an update - freed rebel at FOB Serpiente. I never had stuck around at any other time, let alone releasing any of them. This with a my fully maxed Tier 1 character.

TBH, overall it doesn't mean a whole lot. It all has to do with looking for different ways to enjoy the game at this point, and one for me is to use only those weapons that come from the NPCs. In that context I learned rebels can also drop a G36C.
