GM,
I'm in a clan that is dead. The vast majority of players are at 90+ days afk and the current clan leader has been afk for months but dropped in over the holidays for a few days (his current afk timer is @ 30days).
I'd like to build an active end game clan. I've put the overwhelming vast majority of time and effort into this clan. It's lvl 30. I'd hate to start from scratch. I'm on everyday and would like to take over the clan and build up the player base for endgame raiding.
Since I can't reach the clan leader, how to I plead my case and petition Ubi to pass the clan to me?
I think it's the same kind of story across the entire game at the moment from what I hear. I'm in a clan that was reasonably busy up to about 5 weeks ago that always had 12-15 people on at any time of the day, now there's only 1 or maybe 2. I was a very active player but also actually stopped about a week ago as like many I hit the loot wall and could make zero progress on any of my 10 builds. I havnt completely given up on the game and will return for the next update and I think that's what many players will do hopefully.
As for taking over your clan which would be a good idea I don't think the devs have anything in place to allow you to do so unfortunately. It's a shame you cant reach the current leader and that's something I've also heard from a few players in the same situation.....afk leaders and dead clans because of it. You can only maybe try contacting the devs but not too sure anything will be done to help you or not. I fully sympathise with you and wish you the best of luck with the problem.
As much as you may want to control the clan, it is not yours. They will do nothing in this situation regardless of how much you gave to the clan. That is the whole nature of it. You joined knowing you would be working for someone else. If you want to be clan leader send him some messages or start your own.
As much as it sucks, I would start over and make your own clan. I very much doubt they would transfer the clan to you, 30 days isn't that long to be AFK. For all they know he could be deployed, on vacation, dealing with a big life event etc. So to just hand you the clan on your word probably wouldn't be prudent from their perspective even if they had that system in place.
If you have a clan Discord or similar, I'd try messaging him on there, he'd probably see that even if he quit the game.
They should have an inactive clan leader solution though, I know in Wildstar back in the day there was a system where if the leader was AFK for X number of days, then the members could vote on someone to replace him with. Would be simple enough to implement.
Agreed. In this case the clan leader was away for months, played a few hours over the holiday's which reset the timer, and has been inactive for another 30 since then. I'm sure a simple dev lookup of login activity would show that the leader has logged 1 day in 4 months then focused his attention elsewhere (especially if he's playing another uplay game which can be tracked).I very much doubt they would transfer the clan to you, 30 days isn't that long to be AFK.
That said I think the first response under the op from Craig1405 has the best point. With the exodus happening now this is a common issue. No way ubi would assist so many players gain control of their abandoned clans. It's a real shame too. For those of us that genuinely love this game we'd be the best candidates to lead clans and extend the life of TD2.
