It seems that in some parts of the community, they either believe the game has magic in it or does not have magic. I came here to ask about this and receive your thoughts. With the hope of settling this dispute once and for all.
So I ask to those out there, is there magic in this game? And what evidence supports your claims?
If there is an Ubi responder here, I plead to know whether there is, or there is no magic. Or if these views were even intentional.
I come not to bring the conflict to here to here as well, but rather to get an answer.
I do not think it’s magic in the sense of what most people think. Magic is a force that under no world realistic it breaks every law of the universe. And has no firm rules.
Eg: Lord of the rings, final fantasy, DC, Marvel.
For honour uses pseudo-magic to explain its abilities. All the abilities are somehow manifested through martial training, that activates magic. This is not the traditional define of magic. So answer is NO. For honour does not use magic
No real training can lead to this kind of effects, as hard as you believe in martial artists propaganda :Originally Posted by ballon009 Go to original post
So yes, there's some very low and thankfully very limited magic in this game, hopefully it will stay that low in the future.Originally Posted by Hormly Go to original post
I'd say there definitely is magic in the For Honor Universe.
It's clear as day there are elements which certainly are not possible to do, ranging from over the top executions to teleporting monks.
We've had an event which explained Jorm's origins in which we saw the big snake (whose name Jorm uses) and the devs lowkey confirmed it as canon. So it's obvious that FH is set into another world with other "rules", creatures and maybe even magic.
Also the trailer for Zhanhu's event made it look like Zhanhu was controlling the fire with his hands which gave me big sorcerer vibes.
Sometimes when I'm bored I like to "create" potential heroes for FH in my mind, one of which is a sorcerer. I thought it'd be cool to have a magic wielder to some degree. (Ngl the feats were OP as ****)
I'd love FH to embrace the more fantasy elements since we're supposedly playing as these legendary heroes while playing through the tale that is the Faction War. Of course the people who tell the story will add some epic "overexaggerations" into them which is why I think it'd be a great idea. xp
It entirely depends if you draw the line before or after feats. I choose to look at the game purely at a mechanical level for this. No one's inherent moveset has anything magical about them. Closest thing would be shinobi's "teleoporting" with deflect or double dodge. But that can be done with effects to make it appear to be magic. So in my case i'd say no.
Being an athlete and a fencer myself I can tell you that the human body is a force so powerful we do not understand how it works. In normal usage our minds are fible and weak. And our bodies due not act in sync to our form. As our body try to conserve energy.
But in a fight, your body activates borderline paranormal abilities. I can under no means lift 250 pound person. But when rage fails your heart in a match, I have borderline sent 200+ pound spar partners rolling. It is how we have stories of parents in adrenaline kicking cars so hard they roll over. Or people being able to hold breathe for 15-20 min. To being immune to burns of fire. Or sustain freezing temperatures.
That is because our soul is a form of Devine energy. Under normal circumstances we can not control it. But there instances of kids getting mad and TVs, blowing up. Or anger almost seeming to make weather worse. Or Sadness and evil in humans causing rain. These are not sterotypes. It’s how mind controls matter.
The warriors in game are not using magic. They are not casting spells. There abilities activate the more damage they do... like IRL this phenomenons activate the more dire a situation is. It is why feats are powered by adranalin. You take damage, you revenge. You become immune to damage and can defy death.
History has many examples. Monks can through battle mediation stop their own hearts. Something science stilll can not explain. Priests in Temple of Solomon were assassinated, but blades of steal and iron breaking against plain skin. Or Templar knights taking arrows to the chest and walking them off. Berserkers becoming so angry they could crush an adult skull.
To samurai being so focused they could actually see arrows flying and catch them with their bare hands. This is not mythology. It is the human body.
