You guys!
This game broke my heart a little. Getting a new game is something I do very rarely, and Ghost Recon is always the top of my list for when the opportunity arises. I don't believe Breakpoint can ever be a Ghost Recon game, but as I said in the first OTT If Ubi just droped the GR and launched the game as "Breakpoint" it has a lot of potential. I hope Ubi is able to tap into that potential, but I'm not holding my breath.
You guys, however, are bringing that potential to light. Mil-Sims, Mechanics testing, Roleplays, Stories, Videos, Bar Jokes! You are all inspiring.
Thanks to that inspiration, I've been having a lot of fun in Breakpoint. With some inspiration from Steven, I had several good hours of fun playing "as a homesteader" last night. Tonight I got on, and figured I'd play the homesteader factions missions, as a homesteader! And it was perfect. Using the Scorpio Scout - Quiet, and no suppressor I carefully stalked my way through the missions. All except the Elite one.
This got me thinking; I could do the Outcast missions as an Outcast. And in both cases save the elites for "Nomad" to do. Essentially turning the faction missions into three separate character narratives.
Nomad - Ghost(Assualt). "Crock" - Homsteader(Sharpshooter), and Ford - Outcast(Panther)

As I said in Stevens thread, this is a brilliant idea. It makes a lot of sense actually and would allow you to use three different play styles with those three different characters to keep it fresh.. you could play one character in a session, or all three I guess.
It’s a very cool idea.
The thing I like about the Homesteader play-through idea is that it’s ultra low tech, and low skill, and low gear score. The best part of the game is when you start with just a pistol. This whole idea (if I’m representing it right) is to maintain that level of tension and difficulty throughout the game. But as with anything, it may get boring and repetitive after awhile. But your idea allows you to roll with a high tech Tier One operator whenever you’re in the mood, or a hillbilly with a pistol and unsuppressed hunting rifle when you want more grit. I think I will probably do the same as I tend to get a bit bored easier with this game than I did with Wildlands, so having a few different characters to draw on for any given session may be a saviour.
Edit...
So here’s what I’m thinking... Like you... three character saves
-
#1 - Ghost Tier One Operator highly skilled, very well equipped super soldier - supports any play style
#2 - Homesteader low skill, low tech, little resources - play style is cautious and loud
#3 - TBD - Maybe somehow associated with the Outcasts as you suggest - supports a stealth play style - a super stealth assassin like Sam Fischer that retired on the island and is motivated to take out Sentinel - Maybe his family was killed and he was tortured by Herzog and escapes - high tech but stealthy - never seen
Just thinking out loud how these three characters could not only have different jobs or roles, but also require different play styles.
I have three different saves and play each of them completely differently.
Save 1
I play in a manner consistent with how I would expect a Spec-Ops soldier to conduct the mission based on the ones I knew personally when I was active duty.(Eliminate Snipers, destroy generator, eliminate Heavy Gunners/Turrets and or Mortars, Don't be where they're looking for me)
Save 2
I play this one based on exactly how I would do things based on how I was trained when I was on active duty (Airborne Infantry 8+yrs). Though I was not in Special Forces I did conduct training with some of our Spec-Ops guys and was given some really solid training by them. (Shoot and Scoot, Fight from cover, Use whatever I can to gain an advantage)
Save 3
I attempt to maintain stealth at all costs, even going so far as to sneak in and abduct Sentinel Commanders, moving them off into the wood line to question or kill them. I try to kill as few enemies as possible and go unnoticed. (Think Splinter Cell)
Cool. Can you elaborate on the differences between 1 and 2?Originally Posted by Edcrophilia Go to original post
I'm amazed at your optimism guys! I can't bring myself to have fun in this ****. Already tried everything nothing helps. I'm increasingly drawn back to the Wildlands, but I know I won't last long so I don't even install it. I don't have enough gear for my Ghost, like a skull Balaclava and proper vest mapping. Maybe when this is fixed I can have fun with you.![]()
I started doing a playthrough similar to this one, and Steven's, but condensed into one character because of save slot limits(using each outfit preset as a separate "character"), and playing at a GarbageScore of 4, one primary, extreme difficulty, limited hud, no drone or skills point investment, and no fast travel, and it's honestly been the most fun way to play this game and get close to what the original vision of this game was, and I can highly recommend it for people to try out.
Surely thousands of things that could be done, but Ubi is not interested in it, just wants Raids and surprises in chests, it seems that it worked for them in Division 2. because until 1 it was better for me.
Everything you do is little to the attitude of silly and little polished AI comes a time that you lose respect for the enemy. From now on everything is useless.

The most entertaining thing about breakingpoint has just occurred to me is to be here proposing, I have tried to make him aware of it.
Thats the way the game should be played. No HUD, one weapon, full stealth, get in do the job, get out. Im playing with the idea of having multiple ghost set ups (preset slots), to represent different top tier operators working alone by sector. So I would have one working in the north provinces, one working on the south, one working in restricted area 01 etc. That would go of course with different gear, clothes, appearance and why not gender.
