Hey everyone! I want to open up with a heart-felt thank you for all your hard work on this game. It is easily one of my favorite tactical shooter titles in recent memory, and I genuinely feel the effort that went into making it as realistic, challenging, and rewarding to play. Exploration mode makes this game feel like an adventure and a mystery, with all investigations leading up to something that I am so excited to see unveiled. The thing I enjoy most about the game is its flexibility. As advertised, we can take on missions close and quiet, like an elite sniper, guns blazing, or support our friends in their courageous attacks as the medic. This flexibility truly sets this title apart from its competitors, and that's one thing I would love to see more of, and I am positive more of us would like that as well. You all did a great job on the main game, and I wanted to give kudos where they are deserved!
As for the raid, it was honestly just fine, but I am positive "just fine" isn't what you were aiming for. While a well coordinated group of players can tackle these difficult challenges and succeed, the nature of the raid bosses leaves something to be desired. They were perfectly fine challenges that would be fitting for any Call of Duty Advanced Warfare game, but for a Tom Clancy title that advertises itself as a more realistic experience, giant bullet sponge robots are kind of far from what I had envisioned I would be fighting. You pride yourselves on the tech-forward story, and I genuinely loved what you had put forward so far, but this choice felt very strange. Additionally, the most difficult pill to swallow is that the bosses are all one-dimensional. Much like Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the bosses don't fit with the advertisement about this game having multiple avenues of approach to every situation. Every boss fight we've encountered in this game is some variant of bullet sponge, where our tactical approaches are essentially reduced to a single answer: shoot the bad guy with bullets until they explode. It makes every other tool in our commando toolbox entirely useless, and it genuinely feels like your team is missing out on an exciting opportunity to provide unique challenges that other shooters would have us just toss bullets at. I don't just want to complain about these issues, though, I want to suggest what I would love to see in a future raid.
What I want to see in future raids is a challenge that can be met with the same flexibility the main game gives us, but with more precise applications required for success. I don't want to feel like I get to play panther for the intel search, and then am forced to play assault as the only sensible class choice for each boss fight. Instead of a boss like Baal, where we have to play a game of hot potato, why not give us an object we need to destroy and make us think about the tools in our arsenal that could achieve what we need to do. We only use the healing items during the boss fights, while our other gear sits unused. That genuinely feels like it needs to be addressed. What if instead of a weak point we need to shoot, we had to use the breaching torch to carve off a section of armored plating to plant C4 in strategic locations in Baal to destroy it, but have us fending off a Wolves assault while we're doing it? That would require intense coordination, each player would need to be ready with their part of the strategy, and It would feel more like the main game, with its focus on storytelling and real-world tactics. The challenge would come from the correct application of tactics, rather than adherence to specific raid tropes, and It would give us Ghosts an opportunity to feel like the commandos we're supposed to be.
I genuinely love this game, I just feel like the first raid missed the mark with what it was trying to achieve. I am genuinely looking forward to what this team has in mind for its future content, I just hope it is more in line with the main game's offerings and less in line with the raid as it currently stands. I have full faith in your team, and I know I'll love what is yet to come in Breakpoint.
Thank you all for your effort and dedication to making this game the best you possibly can!
